Hey

I'm having problems with my knee after cycling for a long time now. This problem only showed up now and I have got a proper bike setup, done by cyclelab and I feel great on the bike.

Here is some pics of a left knee to show the area... the side of the knee

The problem seems to be in the small bone on the side of the knee. I only feel this after my rides, but lately I became even more painful and the pain does not really go away.

Not sure if it has something to do with my hips/anckle or lenth of my legs but something is irratating this area and the tendon or whatever may be there is not liking this.

I have a appointment at the biokenetic department in Cape town at the Sport Science Institude of SA.

My question to you guys is - do some of you have this problem aswell?? and what is your solution to this??Confused

This looks like a situation for not being able to cycle for a whileCry

Cheers

Astana

It looks like the ITB area judging by these picks.

If that is the case' date=' it could be a tight hip flexor or a tight or stiff quad.

How pronounced are your arches ?

Explain the question please? I have a normal foot arch if that is what you ment??

After looking at your leg pictures, It has come to my attention that you need to use body Cream on your knee caps, looking rather rough around the edges there AstanaDisapprove

We are meant to walk and run , but we aren't meant to ride bikes LOL

If you have even a moderate arch you would need to support them and staighten out your riding position.

Everytime your foot comes in for the downstroke you arch looks for support, the natural thing to do is tilt inwards, which pushes your knee towards the frame, look at your leg the next time you ride.

This can give you an imbalance in the workings of your quads, ie: a quad muscle that can get overworked and become tight which then aggravates the problem and adding to this the increasing of your mileage possibly.

 I could also be wrong.

Thanx crudmonkey - this might be the posible problem. Sounds good. Will hear what the guys at SSISA say.

Stretching will prob help to even out the tight muscles.

ITB.

Rest, ice, stretch, check position, shoes, cleats etc + then start again. Usually occurs as one increases training load. If not has a lot to do with position.

SSISA should be able to sort you out better than most.

Unfortunately you made need your fit reviewed. The generic Cyclelab fit may not suit you.
