"Specialized Bicycle Components has backed the expansion program of the

Northern California (NorCal) High School Mountain Bike Racing League,

which has recently created a Southern California league and is now

drawing up plans for state-oriented high school cycling leagues across

the USA."

If this isn't inspirational then nothing is. How about a SuperCycling/ Bike manufacturers sponsored equivalent here in South Africa.....

I think there was a thread last week about how to get the schools in south africa involved .

As far as I'm aware, Mongoose sponsor a schools league in Natal. However not being a resident I can't confirm this.

However in Gauteng there is an awesome league put together Nola cycling clubs Deon Steyn. It has some sponsorship from Velotex. However if a major sponsor got behind this league they would do their name the world of good.

I'm in CPT so it's awesome hearing that around the country something similar is already being run (regionally)

These already established initiatives should be visible on a national level

I know there's another thread on here about it, but isn't this what the CSA should really get directly involved with?

- Sponsorship of initiatives only happen when sponsors get exposure

- Press / PR agent to publicize the initiatives

- Press / PR agent to build media profile of the South African cycling

- Why doesn't CSA partner with SuperCyling to promote this stuff (at least then there is fresh show content and SuperCyling has a platform within the cycling community to engage and stay relivent)

I just went to the CSA web site to see if I could find out who was responsible for development and schools. What friggin waste of time. The schools link (under MTB) no longer has any information on it. I can't view any information under "Organisation" or "Transformation" as " You are not authorised to view this resource. You need to login." And to top it off, I can't fing the login button or link.

What a dogs breakfast.

Pathetic. Angry

The mongoose schools series is very good for learning from, thats where i started out, i still compete today and am 2nd in the open series. Very nice courses etc but the batch set off times are to close together and us faster riders catch the younger kids in next to no time at all. But its very nice. They dont sponser much though
