Upgrade vs New

Hey Para' date=' I just bought that Silverback's fork for my MTB. No problems so far: It's laterally stiff and the lockout works, which is all i wanted. Don't care how heavy it is. I think BB rode with one for quite a while and he said he had no problems either.

Yip, as long as you are not a weight weenie it sure does the job! With a lot less maintenance fuss than everything I've ridden since then ......

the only thing i've noticed about this fork is that it doesn't "load" nicely before a jump. It does soak up bumps though. My old fork was flexing horribly so i'm just glad to have something that is laterally stiff :)

BG is a racing snake (as stated by Sir DR) and needs a bike (and parts) with racing pedigree ...... Wink

Chainring protector no longer required!

Thanks for the vote of confidence guys but I am definitely not in race snake shape at the moment Cry the more i ride the slower I get...

Last week I nearly died at the Delt Park race. Had to pull out before the end. Believe I'll do a bit better tomorrow Tongue

BG, I also have a Silverback Phoenix and haven't had any problems up to now.

If you are on good terms with your LBS then ask them if they will change the rear derrailler and fork with a better spec and then you just pay in the difference on the upgrade.

If you do that before you take the bike out the shop it will be cheaper than waiting a few months and then changing the components and paying the price on loose bits.

I done that when I bought my MTB....I was actually advised by my LBS to do it as I would then have a better spec bike from the start.
