ClapClap This event is not a good testing ground for a full suspension bike. I have ridden this event with a cyclocross bike and also got around 80Km on the long downhill on day three.

PS: Johan as jy die jaar gery het was jy beslis 2de :)

Moeilik om te "ja en amen" vir 'n baas 8-5pm en te train soos in die ou dae. So nee wat. Na my been operasie is ek nou 'n fun rider, ek ride omdat dit fun is.

Geluk met jou bike en met jou ride.

Ok this thread is about the bike' date=' not about who were faster than who... This years winner, who won by 5 minutes over #2 averaged 29.9km/h.

The point is... this is a full suspension without lockout and hardtail like pedal performance. Just imagine how this bike will perform in more technical terrain...

Stage 2 had a good 30km+ technical terrain and that's where I got away on day 2.

I made it too easy... Pivot Mach 4... :)

So both you and the winner clocked 29kph average, his probably being a few decimals quicker. On a hardtail you could have won!

I smell a troll...

That's exactly the point... how many full suspensions without lockout can keep up with hardtails in a hardtail race?

Just about every full susp I've ridden behind bobs like uncle bob when not locked out... thinking of scalpel, element, spark...

Still doubt its real technical terrain performance? Well, coming from Chris Cocalis of Titus all doubt should be wiped out.

This bike glides over technical terrain.

Yes, of course Sauser is going to come out and tell everyone how his dream bike is a Pivot Mach 4 Wink

The best bike in the world as far as I'm concerned is whichever one I'm lucky enough to throw my leg over at the end of the day...

Scott is good but there are other bikes that are also excellent. The Anthem Carbon Advanced, or Kona Hei Hei Supreme are just 2 other excellent duelies. At the end of the day, its the legs and handling skills and bike setup for your weight that makes a hugh difference.

Pivot Mach 4. In one of this month's MTB mags UK's MTB Champ talks about his new DS Spez and says something along the lines of "you'll be amamzed how much faster a sual is than a HT."

I've been saying it all along. IMO a HT is ONLY faster on flat, even gravel climbs. My DW-linked AM-biased Mojo keeps up with HT on our weekend rides. Only get dropped on smooth climbs like Paarl Rock...how often do you race or ride conditions like those? Hardly ever.

Viva la Dual!

oh dear some more suspension marketing mumbo jumbo...

if the wheels goes up and down and it's under control then all good.

Full susser with hardtail like performance pfft must be a hardtail with a suspension seat post

Depends on the rider I reckon. I rode an Ellsworth Truth at the 2007 Karoo2Coast (essentially a dirt road race) and found it climbed superbly, as well as any of the hardtails around me. But of course I was not riding with the leaders. Would have liked to have seen how it climbed with a faster rider! I think it was superb and didn't feel any noticeable effects of bob.

I like the Kenda tyres' date=' Have I seen this design before? looks like a good way to get round the patent on the VPP

[/quote']

VPP's patent only applies to the specific arc or travel path that the wheel follows and not what the design looks like. The original Outland VPP looked nothing like the modern VPP(Intense and Santa Cruz) bikes.

Please don't mistake this for some cheap copy of the VPP. Far from it.

The DW-Link design has been around a few years and I have yet to see a non-glowing review of a DW-Link bike. In fact, every time a new DW-link bike is released it seems to be universally praised.....just look at Iron horse, Ibis, Pivot and now Turner.

Dave Weagle has the concept dialled to near perfection, definitely more so than Intense or Santa Cruz. The similarities in construction do not tell the whole truth.
