The ride is definitely on for tomorrow morning. My knee hurts like a beast while walking but is fine on a bike (go figure).

See you at 8 tomorrow.

I have to miss this one after all. Busy coming down with the flu, so I'm not feeling great at all. Enjoy it though!

The ride turned out to be a very good one, the route we followed was:

From Leslie and Douglas Drive,

South on Douglas, becomes Grosvenor.

Follow Grosvenor all the way to the spruit using pavements mostly.

South along the spruit to the bridge just after Republic and William Nicole.

Back up the spruit to Devonshire.

Up Devonshire to Cambridge Rd,

Across to Cowley and all the way up Cowley over mount. Monster climb, thank

fully short!!!

We then rode throught the park land that seperates the new bike park from the

townhouses,

Up Sloan and down Main.

Finally we turned up past the 4X4 garage and worked our way back onto Leslie

and home.

The ride took 2 hours and was 28.5km door to door.

Sadly not many joined the ride, one person came down with flu, another had a

family emergency however the biggest problem seemed to be over indulgence the

night before.

On the way back we stopped at the bike park and chatted to some guy's working

on the park. While there we where approached by Ali McLean (Andrews wife) who

had just fought off a bike jacker on Main Road where it crosses the N1.

I would like to organise more rides, however it just isn't viable given the

lack of support. There was another bike-jacking in the spruit on Saturday and

the only way to do this safely is in a fairly large group. Therefore next week

I'll either be riding at Northern Farm, Rietvlei or road bike in the Cradle.

Mark, I wouldn't give up just yet. You had lots of competition yesterday, Crater Cruise, Race for Victory (Road and MTB) etc.

We regularly ride the Spruit from my house in Bryanston and will certainly join you if we do not have other racing commitments. Maybe try to make it a monthly thing to start of and try choose a weekend without big races.

Hi Mark, been following your thread. Dont give up. It takes a while to set up a regular ride but once you have it going your group will start improving and no one will miss it. I am unfortunately way up on the other end so cant join you guys.

If you ever want to meet half way and I bring you up and show you round this way send me a PM.

I'm going to be there just after lunch today. Big%20smile

Man did the knee hurt like a beast Friday afternoon after the anesthetic wore off. The trip home in the traffic was hell. I took it easy on Saturday and found out on Sunday that it is just mildly stiff while riding, but still hurts when I walk.

Today, so far so good, havn't had a pain killer yet. LOL

Still planning on racing Wednesday.

Good to hear it's getting better, due to being somewhat wary today after 2 * 13 hour weeks and going off to Sabie pre-ride Thursday will give the race a miss ...........

I'm sure I'll be taking you up on this offer. Very keen to see the route South West of William Nicole.

If you come up this way then I will join in with my motley crew too. We ride from my house (on the Spruit at Jan Smuts/Conrad Drive) and either go down towards Bryanston or up to Northcliff. Usually more ladies than guys. Wink
