Do any of you work for Garmin?

cant open my training program on pc when i conect 705 everything on pc freezer ,have delted program and re loaded it but nothing

Reinstalling your program will not help. You need to delete the following directories, and reinstall to get the software to work again:

C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Application Data\GARMIN\Garmin Training Center

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\GARMIN\Training Center

I have also battled with Anvic. Actually gave up cause of all the try this and try that's. Nothing hard and fast and after too much waisted time and money, the GPS now lies somewhere... RIP

Buy (or borrow) one of the Garmap DVD's from any shop, online site, or friend.

The DVD will allow you to purchase an unlock code for your GPS.

Would you be able to use the 705 in a vehicle on the odd occasion?

the south african maps only come with the unit if you buy it in south africa what avnic tries to prevent are parralel imports and in doing so they charge a huge amount of money for the south african maps for an imported garmin

To buy the CD with the maps on is easy. You can get them from Sportsmans Warehouse for R100. The problem then is to get the unlocking code......

 

The latest version is GARMAP AFRICA SERIES 2008 March Edition.

The 2008 streetmaps come standard in SA.

The device works exactly as per the vehicle devices, with beep's instead of voice commands. It will autoroute, give you ETA, recalculate if you go wrong etc.

The SA Maps are included with the 705 and you can set the option on the menu to change from bicycle to car which changes the routing system.

 

In bicycle mode it tends to keep you off main roads and highways.

 

It does however not use voice commands but screen prompts to guide you.

come on guys dont tell me you are using the Garmin training software ??? you need to download sports tracks and use it instead

with the 305 edge you connect your unit to the program and import your ride.

 

with the 705 you import the tcx file. it should be saved in your history folder of the garmin.
