What an amazing event. From the great route to the lunch aftrward, Brait certainly know how to host a MTB race.

Did anyone else ride? What was the final distance? My Polar read 39km, but I heard many different opinions.

I read on the Crater Cruise thread that there were a few animal attacks. One of the guys on the G2G was attacked by a zebra; literally destroyed his front wheel.

Dirty Twin was there as well................but I am sure that he will eventually tell you about when he stops working for a while and does some hubbing............schmuck! Angry

I rode with greatwhite in the King's Crusaders team (Brait kit with green armbands). Eldron was meant to ride but was injured in a freak accident at Van Gaalens the weekend before. My fiance and another friend, Steve, made up the team.

We did it as a fun ride and what a brilliant ride it was. We even stopped to fix a poor dude's broken chain. It was great fun racing down all the technical descents, regrouping - then riding together until the next hill. With no corporate affiliations we were very fortunate to be invited to ride and given accomodation at the Valley lodge for two nights. The festivities afterwards are always superb.

Dane was the guy hit by the zebra. I ride occasionally with his dad and they sat and chatted with us afterwards.

Here are some before and after photies:

I sent this thread to some of the peeps at Brait. They would like to know if there are anymore more photos of the prize giving and if they could get them (possibly the high res versions).

So please, anybody who has some please PM me.

Thanks!

Great event, what fun. First MTB ride I have done as a 'fun ride' rather than a flat out race, we came 2nd in the mixed category...massive kudos to Brait, as far as corporate 'do's'go, this beats the usual rugby, cricket etc box affairs....

Man what an awesome event it was worth paying the airfare from PE to do this ride. Well where does one start at the start I suppose.

When you arive at the venue they have security directing you to a parking spot. As I stepped out of my car I could hear the announcer over the PA system inviting folk to go over to the marquee to enjoy something to eat.

Dawn Wing was also there handing out arm warmers. Then there was Morningside Cycles & I Think Dunkeld Cycles giving a bit of technical assistance for those who came unprepared then off to the start line.

Well it was a sedate start but way to fast for me so I just took my time to get going feeling kind of uncomfortable I realised that my saddle position was not sorted after boxing it up on the plane so stopped at about Km5 to adjust and lost the bunch that I was riding with and managed to catch them just as they got to the tar section which was nice and fast and then back into the Mohale gate and to the first water point which was really well stocked with banana's, powerade, coke etc and by this point we where almost halfway and this is were all the fun bits started a short not to steep drag up and over the little koppie with magnificent views of the Magaliesberg as you crest the hill and then down flat out into some switchback jeep tracks by this time we where eating up the kilo's and flew through some of the well stocked waterpoints and the last one even had a lekker drive through shower to cool the riders down and then off to the finish.

There was the a bike wash, Massage tent and hot showers if you got in early enough.

Then there was the lunch and drinks on the lawns which is probably the best lunch I have ever had at a race or anywhere else for that matter except maybe at home.

After all of that I had to drag my sorry little self of home.

Thank you to Brait for a fantastic event.
