After destroying my second back tyre (Spez Resolution), i need some info / help.

The issue with the back tyre is that I ride a lot in rocky terrain, and eventually, I get a tear in the sidewall. The Spez tyres has very thin side walls.

An option I am thinking about is to get someting like a UST. Normally, the tyre wall is much stronger. Just the price is a bit of an issue.

Iv been riding maxxis for the past few months and mine are still 100%

I ride alot of rocky sections as well and they have survived until now. The ust tires dont work as well for me. Use a tube... if you get a tear, slid in an empty gu packet until you have finished your ride. Works every time

I do not want to convert to UST, just want to use the tyre for it's stiff side wall.

Do lots of rocky rides and my maxxis (crossmarks and larsen TT's) seem to last quite well.

i find my larsens are a bit off in the rocky stuff.

Yup know what you mean, loose little rocky sections the front tends to wash out. But what I meant is, in the bigger rocky section, they seem to last as in don't get sidewall cuts easily etc.

I have had no problems with Maxxis Crossmarks so far, and I ride a fair bit on rocky stuff. They work for me, will definately buy again when I need to replace them.

Spez tyres have abonormally thin sidewalls. In all my years riding I've never had a sidewall cut, but for three on Spez demo bikes.

What type of riding do you do? Based on that we can recommend something.

ja, my badEmbarrassedthis thread's not about grip. and, yup, they seem plenty robust, even over the sharper stuff.

Schwalbe tyres are available with the Snakeskin sidewall which prevents side wall cuts & tears and they have very fast rolling & grippy tyres.

and according to the latest Bicycling only R 280.00 a tyre for Racing Ralphs, which I happen to like a lot, but can't comment about side wall tear resistance yet.

I would love to see that price in the shops. That will make it one of the cheapest out there and all know Schwalbes are not cheap.

I nearly fell out my chair. Especially when I got the set I'm riding now for R 300.00 each, and that was a big favor from my LBS.
