I see they have a shuttle service at quite some fee to get you back to Nasrec and your car, is this worth it and the best option or is there any other way (apart from cycling back Ouch or having someone drive your car down to the finish) to get to the start ? Jackes17542008-11-09 23:26:54

Last year I even asked the organisers and their attitude was "Phone a friend".

So felty was not far off,  no need to tell him to f off now...  LOL

Maybe Felty and that organizer is the same person, therefor the same response.

Maybe speak to your club. I know Our club had the trailer and transport available this year.

We cycled back to Nasrec this year after the race (and at times at a faster pace than the race itself Shocked).

That is why I illuminated that option in the original thread, for phycho's like you guys Ouch

And while I have your attention' date=' nearest accomodation options ? [/quote']

Where do you want to stay at the start or finish?

Start I suppose, but don't know any of the gauteng area so suggestions would help.  Or is it better at the finish ?   Friend did it last year with some other guys, they overnight in Parys and drove there the next morning

It's about a 100km drive from parys to nasrec so you might want to stay closer but I dont know that area well for accommodation maybe somebody else can help. Otherwise stay at the Riviera Hotel in Vereeniging that is about 11km from the finish..

I assume you are talking about "The fast one"??

Hotels and guest houses are limited in the Vereeniging / Vanderbijlpark area, the Riviera Hotel in Vereeniging is one or the Holiday Inns in Vanderbijlpark is another, both within easy cycling distance of the finish.

There is also  FORMULA 1 hotel in Vereeniging, I often drive past it and rates are quite reasonable, but I cant comment on the accomodation standard.

There is a very nice guest house "Weavers nest" in Vereeniging, quite upmarket so probably the same price as the hotels, but I personally wouldnt stay at any of the other guest houses I have seen.

Remember, driving from anywhere in the Vaal Triangle is at least 70 kms to the start, and if you dont know the area, be sure to have a Garmin, it can get quite complicated.

Riding back......................hmmmm, not ever going to be an option for me!Big%20smile
