Andy, I cannot say with any conviction that I enjoy riding anywhere more than I do in SBR. The hill work is great, but I need to work on some form of balance.

I went for a ride yesterday afternoon and included somehills. I was appalled at how slow I have got. Strong on the hills but no speed.

So, I figure I want to go with one of the bunches and do some speed and interval work on the flats.

Thanks for the invite though. Definitely another time.

This thread has really slowed down...not good.

Andyr249...when you say going straight at the top of the first climb, what do you mean? If you start on the N3 Heidelberg entrance side, going up that climb you get to a T-Junction and can only go left or right. Going right, within approx 12km your right back at the entrance. Going left you have to follow the loop as laid out by the reserve managers. hence, going left at the next junction and following the loop around back to the exact point as you have been doing, giving you either 40km odd, or 55km odd. There are no other routes available, and you cannot ride against the flow of traffic...which is a pity coz some of those climbs and descents are awesome!

GOv2.0smiley4.gif So nice to see you again.

I am also a little foncused as to which loop Andy is talking about, but at a guestimate, I would say he is refering to if you do turn right at the "T" at the top of the first climb, it takes you backover what I know as the Cheetah loop. (They used to have cheetahs in the reserve some time ago.)

The plan was, last weekend, that we do the entire loop of 57 k's and then instead of going nto the gate, we go up that first climb again and turn right to do the cheetha loop twice. So I think Andy is trying to get a sence of distance on that one.

Hey! Yeah, I also thought thats what he meant! I think its like 12km or so...but a nice extra loop at that! I wish we could ride the cheetha loop in the opposite direction, coz that long downhill would be awesome to climb!I reckon it would be the hardest climb then in fact.

Who are going to participate in the CGC Interclub Series? First one is this weekend (Sat @ 13:00) in the South

GOv2.0. Take two disprins and call me in the morning if symptoms persist.

You wanna climb what? It may be the longest climb but not too sure about the degree of difficulty. Those other climbs are ugly man. Maybe shorter but vicious I tell you. Long teeth to bite legs.smiley18.gif

Dude, now I know you crazy man.

Gonna be a busy-busy-busy-busy-busy-busy-busy-busy-busy-busy month ahead smiley1.gif

Interclub is a 3 series road race series organised by CGC. Read more at http://www.entelectclubmanager.co.za/ECGWebManager/DisplayNewsItem.aspx?niid=1327&province=CGCycling (I think...) Bulk entry for all 3 (2 being on the west, 1 in the south) is at http://www.cgcycling.co.za/events/default.aspx?eventid=37

You can even use the development bikes from 10:00 to 12:30 for training

Trubie, are you doing the Vit-T-Go MTB race at Babbas Lodge this Sunday - I just entered  the 65/70km race smiley4.gif

Yes, what you call the Cheetah Loop Slave. I will go riding there on Sat. Just trying to decided if I should do the full loop of the Cheetah loop a bunch of times. So you reckon it would be about 12 km's?

That descent on the Cheetah loop would be a nice climb but I doubt it would be the hardest. I estimate it to be about the same as that final climb of the main loop, in the region of about 6%. That other decent on the main loop would be the hardest climb. I think that is about 8% but with the turns and length (it feels longer than the first ascent) it would be harder.

Time to fess up...I have actually ridden the SBR in the opposite direction. But this was a long time ago, and mid week. That twisty descent is hard when climbing, but its over fairly quickly. But sadly never did the Cheetah loop descent as a climb. I reckon its a tough one.

What sort of time do you do a full lap in Andyr249?

No, this sunday is family outing to the 702 Big Walk!

My first and only MTB race this year will be the Bekker race on 24 Sept - I have entered the 30 k's with a work colleague of mine. He is also trying to get me into every damn MTB race on the calender, without success.

Monday my 16 weeks of training for 94.7 starts, so I have to be well rested, relaxed and most NB injury free.

Well rested for a 16 week training program? smiley3.gif

I'd rather go with the excuse of the 702 Walk smiley2.gif

Ok then, so you will be doing the Babbas race on 16 Dec then smiley2.gif It is AFTER the 94.7! Or are you in another 16 weeks of training for the Fast One by that time?
