The Bosco loop guys took us past Wheelers farm and around the back of Walkerville. The wind and the pace was hectic.

Slave what happened on Saturday ?

Yes Slave what happened to you on Saturday & what happened to you yesterday ??

Slave' date=' did you show the guys on Saturday who's King Of the Steps ????

Define hectic Nish4??

On Saturday I went long all was well until the pro's (med scheme, helivac, etc) decided to have a pit stop after that OMG, got dropped, 3 of us formed our own group and took a short cut, the bunch caught us again and dropped us again back to the 3 man group all the way home[img']https://assets.bikehub.co.za/legacy_images/smilies/smiley19.gif[/img]smiley19.gifsmiley19.gif.

Those guys can ride.

The wind yesterday was all over the place.

Hi Kid , where were you. I also did the loop with the guys. Well until they made the right turn through walkerville. We did Henley ..

I was there somewhere in the middle. Then after they turned right all was still ok it was when they turned right again that everything fell apart (for me). Pity I didn't see you would have riden with you, well don't know if I would have kept up with you either.

Good to hear that you back.

I'll be there on Thursday for another round smiley32.gifsmiley32.gifsmiley32.gif

Hi Guys.

Im relatively new to cycling. Ive never cycled before. Bought a MTB a month ago and have been doing some solo rides in an around Winchester Hills and Mondeor. I Want do do the 94.7 in 4hours. I live in JHB south (Suideroord).

From this forum, I gather that there are cycling groups that leave from Klipriver road. I would love to join one of the groups. Can anybody supply me with more information. Im still a beginner and have never ridden in a group before. Is there a begginer group that goes out?

AC, welcome to the hub and a special welcome to out thread. Just a word of warning:

The kid thinks he is Al Capone and tries to extract large sums of money to support his cycling habit. The coach (Trubie) does not allow any slacking off on our rides and we affectionately call him (among other things) "boss", "coach" "Nkosi Nkulu".

If you slack off he is likely to wield his sjambok.

It also helps to be nuts (crazy) to survive here. Seems the sane people all go away after a week or so and only us smiley8.gif stick it out.

At the corner of Klip river and Swartkoppies is a place called Xumbugs. The roadies meet up there every weekend and leave at 7 for various loops around the south.

There are a number of MTB riders (of course we never greet each other and only sometimes hurl abuse at each other because we can. People like BigBen are OK because they do MTB and Road. Trubie is a roadie who pretends he can do MTB becuase he has one race under his bellt and will do another on Thursday.) around the area. They ride around all over the south too, just not on the roads so they don't have to wave at us friendly roadies.

Rietvlei have a few tracks to try out your dirty habit and for now, SBR is open to cyclists.

Andy is our resident speedster on a road bike and the closest I have come to MTB is to ride a hybrid in the less technical sections of the veld.

Oh and Wonder Woman and Nancy Drew are also cool because they ride both MTB and Road.

AC, at the time and place mentioned by Slave quite a few groups start one after the other (informally, and sometimes chaotically), but the last group is affectionately known as the Social group/bunch. Start with them initially smiley4.gif

Enjoy the cycling! smiley4.gif

Seriously dude, we are just a crazy (I speak mainly for myself) bunch of Romans (I mean roadies.)

There are a number of MTB riders around the area and you can contact BB and others like him to find out where to ride offroad. Rietvlei is one place I know of and many of the riders ride around the open fields of Rand Water next door to Xumbugs.

Riding a MTB on the road is not going to be an easy task.

Once you have a level of fitness going on, the loop from Xumbugs (Short loop) back to Ximbugs is about 40 km. Most okes will be ok with you joining.

Just stay away form our good friend Moana. You will find out who she is and how she got her name after one or two rides with the social bunch. Mostly they are just out for a fun ride on the weekends.

One day soon I will head up the crazy bunch.smiley4.gif (Wait, I already do.)

Ok...so I'm back...to be honest, a little sad because I was planning on racing the Zoo Lake crit today. But it aint gonna happen. Been to busy with the real world, (as I explained telephonically to Slave the other day!) and as such the idea of racing less than prepared is a bad idea.

But, glad to see all the madcap nonsense is still on the go here!

Predictor...dude, you need a straight jacket. Ok, I've also done multiple laps of the SBR...but not on a goat! You are certifiable...and hence fit right in here!!!  Strength dude!

Sure is especially since he didn't even submit a leave application.

Speaking of which, some of the other regulars have been missing for a while.

Tyx1 and a few others.

the fact that the "regulars" talk crap now on email obviously made them feel left out and they ducked!!

once they see you are back, so will they besmiley4.gif

so lets revive this thing here

After my MTB cycle in the morning (and a 5km run the early evening) + this just over 40 on the road bike this morning, what is the best thing to do tomorrow before the C2C on Sun?

Do I go run 15km as planned, go for a bit of MTBing at Northern Farm, or do I rest... maybe a shorter run...? Based on previous years number the C2C shouldn't be a seeding race, so no need to chase a time...

Ox, you are an enigma my friend. What works for you certainly may not work for others and maybe what works for others may not work for you.

Last couple of races, Trubie strongly recommended I go ride my bike the day before a race. Not to race the bike, but just to go out and turn the pedals. Loosen the legs so to speak.

So, if it was me racing on Sunday, I would go out and do a little 47 k ride with the fast bunch tomorow AM.

Did that before TDS and Dome and it worked well for me.

how about

go for the run

get a lucious blonde for the massage - have the sports and then sleep afterwards

so best of all 3

then you will be well rested, well massaged and the testosterone & seratonin levels will be high and sunday will be a blast - so to speak
