Thanks for the encouragement GOv2. After yesterdays ride, I feel pretty kasausted. Maybe a hangover from Monday, but the ride seemed to just go on forever. I seriously questioned my sanity and thought of hanging up the bike, myself and the helmet.

Interesting to note after the ride, was when I logged the data, I was 9 minutes faster than my previous time for that particular circiut. So while it didn't feel like there was any improvement, there was a small one. The ride was also only 4 minutes longer than the previous days ride time and all we did was the same trip in reverse order. Eish that Lido hill up to eages nest is quite a beaaaatch.

KId. All this "secret training" is actually "Kamp staal fiets". My secret coach has me riding around secretive places because I have to do it nekked.

Trust me dude, when you see stuff like that, you KNOW why they call it indecent exposure. Why do you think I'm doing this stuff in Standerton this weekend?

Uh oh! Wrighte...thats a bit of a problem, coz I have already arranged a ride with some other people. Surely there are some budding spinning instructors out there in Hubland that will be able to assist?

I am also not the best spinning instructor...

wrighte.

I consider myself fit enough to do 30 minutes of spinning. Heck, I could prob'ly manage about three hours if pushed.

Only prob is I have an engagement to attend in Standerton of all places.

Any other weekend would have been just dandy. (Not that I'm into spinning at all, just keen to help out a fellow traveller.)

S2L, are we doing the Heidelberg route next weekend ? Or are you still going to be training in TOP SECRET ?

GreyOwl, you still riding on Saturday see you at 7 ?
Posted

Kid.

Doing some distance again this weekend. So next weekend I want to ride with the bunch and put my secretive training to the test.

Maybe do the Heidelberg loop the following weekend. Gives us longer to plan and maybe we can get a few others to join our ride. Time to plan you know.

GreyOwl, I'll also be there. If it's just the 2 of us then I'm going to fill bags with sand and attach them to your bike, that way I may keep up with you.

S2L, are you getting soft ?

We can ride with the bunch on Sat & on Sun we can do the Heidelberg loop. You want have a problem with those long legs of yours.

And just think what will happen when Impey, Mcleod & White join us for a group ride and see you leading the bunch on your 900yr old Peejou.

Me? Soft?

I know what this body is capable of and it is telling me to slow down. (Strike that, it's screaming for me to slow down.)

If I do a long ride in a weekend, then I need to have a slow bunch ride. Much as I want to, can't do both fast bunch and long ride.

So yeah, me soft. No argument there.

Posted

Nope, not even close dude. I wanna run with the faster guys, or try at least. A few more weeks of running with them should make me faster.

Then I'm going to go back for a ride with Monas bunch, Jump in front and push he pace until they all fall off or keep up with me. Split the bunch if you like. See if she can hang with a faster crowd or if she will scream blue murder.

Now, you still think I'm soft (Don't you dare answer that. Rhetorical question.)

S2L, I would never call you a softie, I know how big you are and with all your TOP SECRECT training that you've been doing I wont even be able to ride away from you.

I'm glad I was wrong & that you actually wanna ride with the big boys smiley20.gifsmiley20.gifsmiley20.gifsmiley20.gif

So glad we have an understandning Kid.

Now, tactically, are you and GOv2 going to come and help me stir it up in a few weeks time. GOv2 can set some pace, and you and I can wheelsuck. As long as you dudes remeber that I'm a crotchety old fart.

In the interim, I'll run as far and as hard as I can with the "big dawgs." Even if I end up panting like a puppy.

Like I've said before GreyOwl is then man.

I'm just hoping that on Sat there are a few riders and GO2 will have to ride slower than normal, can you imagine if it's just me & GO2 (maybe I should take a rope on Sat smiley38.gif)

So...I'll handle Slave's usual report back seeing as he did not join us on saturday due to Top secret training in Standerton!

I'm proud to say that Nancy Drew officially became a cyclist on saturday! She did her very first "Lido/South" ride which now makes her a real cyclist in SA terms!

So, Nancy, Indigo Kid, Joe Low, Muxman and myself met up at the usual spot and set off on the usual ride...all very uneventfull due to the fact that everyone was away at the Argus.

However...it should be known that Nancy used supreme power and devious tactical knowledge to outsprint Joe Low to the stop street!!

Eat humble pie bud!!

Just a couple kilo's from the end Indigo Kid punctured and Nancy and myself stoppped to assist him.

"How many Hubbers does it take to fix a puncture?"

We were a sorry sight, Indigo managed to easily fix the flat...but my insisting on using a bomb resulted in me looking like a prized pratt when I could not get the darn thing to work...and Nancy stepped in and made it look like a piece of the humble pie that Joe had to eat!!!

Was a fun ride, easy and with no drama. As always its a great pleasure to meet up with other Hubbers and speak a whole load of fecal matter!

I must say I am waiting for saturday to see how the secret training has worked for the Slave!
