Are you sure that it was only 2???

Maybe you don't count to well ??

1 Tequila; 2 Tequila; 3 Tequila; FLOOR - and you ended up on the floor

Ok heal up & we'll see you next weekend

BTW probably a good idea to stay away from Tequila :D :D

He he!

I had a blind date the night before and it went really badly! We were in meyersdal and my friend had come along just in case! Nothing passes time better than tequila!

How do you take a friend on a Date ???

With Tequila things could get seriously out of hand

Er Princess, there is some history here you are perhaps not aware of.

She very kindly left me about a month ago and I have been grovelling to get her back. Far more than most men alive would have done, but that's irrelevant round about now. After the weekend's fun riding the bike with the mad mates, and the relatively cold shoulder I got all weekend, sort of put me onto the thought track that maybe the effort is far better spent cycling. Seriously thinking of turning into a genie and granting her wish. And before the rest of you get all exited about the Genie thing, the answer is "no" you may not have new bikes, kit or anything else. There is only one wish left and it may well be spoken for already.

Don't let the Kid scare you into thinking that the speeds he recorded are normal. It was the max speed for a short burst only. Trust me, if I can manage it, most anyone else can too. Remember, I'm an old fart. Like I said, I used to ride that loop at an average of 30 with the slow bunch and about 32 to 33 with the fast bunch about a year back. Yesterday's 26 average just shows how slow it really was.

The pace was just right for me. :)

So Ox, you doing some serious running there. up to 24 km is good. I used to love the half marathon distance 21.1. Plenty of energy left to go home after a Sunday race, mow the dog and wash the lawn. :D

It is a lot harder to do a 21 km run than cycly 50km. Tha's foshore.

And where do you get that we were doing 51. That was the max speed we did and only for a short period of time. It was trying to do 54 as a sustainable pace that got me dropped out the back of the pack last time I bitched about being dropped. I used my garmin to track the route and the end average was a mere 26 so perhaps you should check your stats. :P You weren't even in the bunch. Only mini me was there. I recall doing that loop with the slow bunch at an average of 30 and sometimes a little higher. By comparison, yesterday was slow. ;)

But it was still a lekker ride that only necessitated a one-hour nap afterwards.

Just to add some spice to this discussion with some meaningless info ..........

Not sure all knows this but there is a small group that leaves X at 5:00 on saturday's, they do the cheesefactory and depending on time left before 7:00, they go up Klipriver to top of Butchers and back to X. Then a Nampak Loop to finish off with 100+ k's.

I joined them saturday and the MO is that the road that passes the cheesefactory is used for HI intervals all the way from the left turn after the long downhill(coming from Lapeng Hotel's side) to the bridge over the R 59 just before the left turn back to Klipriver. Saturday's ride was made up of 9 of us and the riding was hard all the way down that road, but even passing through Klipriver. On the steps it intensified and I wanted to have record of this ride up the steps, so I lapped my Ibike as we crossed the river (bridge) at the bottom of the steps and lapped it again as we went under the bridge at the top just before the left turn to BP. What transpired scared me and hurt BIG time while doing it.

Dist -5.7 km

Time - 9:55

Spd - 34.9

Cad - 86.9

HR - 161.7, which is very high for me (my LT2 is at 151 beats/min)

Yesterday I did the "south loop" which is the route we use in the winter. Coming down Klipriver (Butcher's Hill) I clocked 90k's. Now I know the wind was pumping, so it must have been that. I mean, it cant be my stomach size only that contributed to that? :)

@PH Over time you'll realised that cycling talk is greatly exagerated on this thread, do not get scared by all the 'numbers'

@Slave That was split over two runs, 8km Sat and 16km Sun. Cycling was done as 1H25 on Sat arvie (before the rugby) and 1H15 Sunday afternoon late/evening early

Glad that you've learnt how to spin !!!

WELL DONE you racing snake!!!

Two girls & lots of Tequila - what could go wrong ????

Probably a good thing you stopped at 2.

Hope your wrist is better.

So it looks to me like Trubie and his gang of renegades surely own the crown of "King of the Steps".

Thanks Trubie, that is a great weight off my shoulders.

Now I can just go back to being Skivvy again. Yeeeeeeehaaaaaaa. :) Your slowassed Mr. Average slow bunch rider. Thanks dude, you're a lifesaver.

@Hannah. Taking a friend along on a blind date is just faulty. If you didn't want to go, you should have just said so. :) You are at least correct about the tequila. It makes any date far more intersting. Even blind ones.

Ahh, the joys of the dating game. Only dates in my immediate future are cycling and more cycling. Every weekend if possible, but I have to consider that I am commuting as well and need some time to rest and recover. Long term plans for dating are not even in the picture. There is work, and there is cycling and I'm sure there will now be more time for recovery naps too. And far less earache.

Correction - - I was riding with the group.... hanging on for dear life is more appropriate

Posted

Yeah  but it was a group of racing snakes.

I barely manage to hang on for dear life with the slow bunch.

And with that, I am outa here for the rest of the day.

Later all. I have work. Yeah, I know, it's the curse of the drinking class.
