There is a 200km ride coming up on 5 Dec. organised by Cresta Wheelers. Anybody game for a ride from Marks park to Nigel and back? Not timed, no prizes, no bragging right, just 200 LSD km in the saddle/bag.

Anybody keen? Info on www.crestawheelers.co.za - click on the scrolling banner, or check the event created by Edman

There is a new bike shop at Melrose Arch. Concept Cyclery. I understand that it is somehow linked to Burry Stander.

Specialized everything. Tubes, Helmets, gloves. It's all branded stuff. Great for Andy and the Big S.

There are some very nice bikes in the shop.

Oxman, dude. 200 km on December 5. Tha's a loooooong ride mate. Maybe you can get details of the planned route and I can hook up with you sometime later on the route. Not too sure at this point in time I want to do something as hard core as 200km in one day. I think I will need more than CPR and a crash cart to revive me.

Slave, 200km ain't that far, you just need to approach it sedately enough. Have done it in April, and ran a half marathon 2 days later. Much doable me thinks. Route normally entails riding from checkpoint to checkpoint. Think it might be on the Cresta Wheelers website if you scratch around a bit ;-) 200km will do much for endurance, and prep & help qualify for that l-o-n-g ride in France, if you are so inclined dry.gif ;)

My wife has threatened to remove my last remaining 'goon' should I even think of going there :o

And they are frikking good mind readers. They just KNOW what we are thinking.

Are we that shallow, predictable and transparent? :(

@Ox. Dude, Andy is our aspirant Paris - Roubaix rider or team rep for any possible other long rides in France. I'd be happy to make it to Parys Free state in a car.

Thanks Slave! But those riders who turn ride on that Sunday, where did they go? Slow bunch and doing 105km?

I have been to that AMAZING shop! Went on Sunday after the race. Oh My Word, what a great shop! Bought a bike from them as well on Sunday! :P And that Shiv! Already got my eye on the S-Works shoes and S-Works helmet and Christmas is close so you now all know what to get me! :D

I have now raced the Argus, Amashova and 94.7 with A bunch. My main cycling goal from 2004 is mission accomplished. 2011 is preparation year and then 2012 I want to do the Paris-Roubaix or Ronde van Vlaanderen. Although I am leaning towards the Ronde van Vlaanderen because it has nice cobbled climbs. Paradise!!! :D

Andy, the chap I was riding with up front on that particular day (Name of Andrew) mentioned the route they were doing. They took a slightly shorter route to end on about 74. Can't quite remember the exact route he mentioned. Basically, it was right instead of left up the steps, turned left on the road towards the west gate of SBR but would have truned right instead of left at the T junction, heded towards the north part of Henley and then back home. That's about as close as I can remember.

One day in the not too distant future, I will take you on a tour of the south, but you will have to come out for a few differnt rides so you can see some of the routes.

Did you do Race for Victory?

Sounds good Russ! We should start them soon. Get the whole team (you, Kid, Trubie, Hummy, Agteros, BigS, Nance, Hannah, myself and whoever else) for a few of them and make an event out of it like we did that Double Loop day with breakfast somewhere.

Didn't do R4V this last year.

Andy have you figured out what we are supposed to do on Sunday, Kid might have to skip the long part as the younger version is persistent in his riding.

Posted

Reason I asked about R4V is because it does someof the roads that we train on. The Lido hill, Cheese factory bit and then on to SBR with the last two major climbs through SBR.

I think it will be a cool idea to maybe do the circus loop or the one around the outside of SBR because it incorperates a few little speed bumps, the stop at the circus for brekkie and then ride home, or just do that loop and then do brekkie back at Rietvlei.

What's this about a Time Trial this weekend?

Us peeps using power meters need to do a TT(20min) for a specific value(FTP) that is needed to train with, similar to heart rate zones but now power zones.

For some crazy reason Andy wants to join us.

What about half Nampak, then left (instead of right to steps), through half SBR and then up the steps and back to Rietvlei for breakfast?

Hummy, it will be fun! :D
