Count me in. I'm flying solo at the 24 hour next year as well!

So that is then four ASGR Solo Riders at the 24 hour next year! I have a a friend with a 16 man tent so I guess it falls on BigS to get us a huge camp site! Kid will be the manager. ;) Just need to find myself a soigneur. ;)

Ended up being today (or more specifically, this afternoon.)

Sure was. We met at 8, had a couple of drinks. Me Vit S, her Vit W (Wine), chatted until about 10 when I managed to convince her that Rietvlei was the happening place. Got there about 10:30 and no Andy, no ox, could find anyone,so we adjourned to O' Hagans and had a couple more drinks until they chased us out at 01h15, took home, dropped her off and headed for home. Got back just after 3 am and hit the sack. Woke up at six and could not face the possibility of a ride so went back to sleep until 6h45.

Very eventful date.

This afternoon consisted of watching a DVD and battling to keep my eyes open. Left around 7 and got home about an hour ago. Food, cold (coke) drink and ready for bed. Us old farts need loads of beaty sleep.

Catchya allin the AM. Hope you all had lekker rides today in that wind. It sucked. (Actually that's just a figure of speech. It BLEW).

Fast mover!!! When is the third date? Tomorrow evening?

You gotthere at 10:30? If I was still there at that time I would not have woken up in time fo 2011 24 hour training wih Nance!

Hey Kid, thanks so much for coming to give some support with Andy and Nance. It was highly appreciated

Ended up with 22 laps, about 260 k's I guess, 2nd in Vet Men behind the Legendary Tinker Juarez! Just a 'little' broken today .... was it worth it? HELL YEAH!

Andy, Nance this is a commitment I will NOT allow to slip :)

"Nance and I have decided to do the 24 hour solo next year."

You go big man. I think you have to change your login. Big S doesn't work so well. Since you're a machine, you should become Big M.

What the frikadel is a soigneur?

Fast mover nothing. Third date will probably be sometime next year. Afer DC2011 according to strict instructions issued. :(

No more dating, internet chat sites, or anything other than work and cycle, and cycle to work and cycle and work.

BORING!! :(

Oh well, off to bed I promised myself an early night and so fr I have been derailed. Later dudes.

So you take her to a 24 MTB race? Yes, a very hard core introduction! No wonder the next date is next year!

Soigneurs, who are assistants responsible for feeding, clothing, and escorting riders. They also massage riders.

So you better get yourself one as well! ;)

Slave you not 'lekker' in the head dude

Well documented, established and long known fact.

- thought you were staying away from the 'fairer' sex for a while

Just looking for a bit of variation in my cycling training dude. Unlike you, I don't ride bikes after dark. I need an indoor trainer for that. You see, in my twisted little mind, I can ride indoor trainers during the day and at night, but I can only ride the bike during the day. Old farts like me battle to see stuff without serious specs. :(

I think I am looking for one of those too. This is why I am looking on the internet. Got to interview all possible candidates long before the time so there's no last minute panic when it comes to the DC.

I just one one or two that have a couple of built in extras. ;)

EDIT:

Like an optional IDT function.Cooking the odd meal and ironing the odd shirt would be a distinct advantage. So if I have say one of these in the South, one in the north, the east, and the West, I can vary my training routes.

Say whaaaaat?

Ok, I have complied with the "get to bed early" thing last night. So at least one aspect is falling into place.

My cycling has actually stalled. I was lazy last week and the weather so far this week has not been conducive to my regular commuting. there is still loads of time for me to get back on track.

Who is the team captain? I don't want to get post-4220-0-33853800-1291706499.gif

Nothing wrong with the weather. Its fine for riding. This morning was a little windy but still got to do 2hrs (54k's).

We'll make Andy captain, as he talks the most. On the other hand it might be a close shave between Ha Ha and Slave and Andy for the "talking the most crown = captain status"

Not to turn this into a political thing, but my vote is for you because of your cycling experience.

Kid talks a lot too as do I but that hardly qualifies either of us for the job. We need someone who understand stuff the way you do which is more than being just a good cyclist.

Yeah, weather is fine for riding. Nice and cool. The dark skies and threat of rain kept me off the bike this AM. I even changed tubes because the back tyre was flat in prep for a ride today. The wind doesn't really bother me that much except for the safety aspect of it. There are a lot of busses, trucks and taxis on the way to and from work. :o And no, I don't chase the truck is traffic. They are usually going slower than me anyway. And wind suck is just not cool.

I think I will head home early today and take a training ride without backpack loaded with computer and all that junk I commute with. :P

@Slave

I hope you going to do a good few 100+km rides this month.

You need to get to bed early and stay away from the Vit S.

Just remember that you'll need to pace the team for at least 60% of the way at next years DC.

This is due to your experience of chasing trucks.

Posted

Very logical that one. :stupid: I can chase a truck or two for about 20 seconds and that means I can be the lead out man. :whistling: for 60% of the race. Riiiiiight. I think the objective is to complete the race in 6 hours not 6 days.

You, on the other hand have become somewhat of a racing snake. And all round good strong cyclist. I think you need to be the leadout man and bring along a tow-rope so I can make it to 60% of race distance.

That is why you have to keep up the training. You have the desire and ability to chase & lead. How else would you have come to be known as the chaser of trucks and the King of the Steps.

A bit of regular training and you'll be amazed with the results!
