This morning I feel like dropping all roadies... The group I rode with seems not to know ANYTHING about traffic rules

You were making like an airplane again, weren't you ?

They probably saw you making like an airplane and then the forgot to stop at the red lights since there are no red lights after the clouds.

All I had to do was to tell them about the King of the Steps and they were sold on the idea.

So first you say there are too many managers and now you hinting that you Slave's manager.

Best you keep an eye on him !!!

With all this managers and what what you okes want to appoint I hope you realize that we need accom in Swellendam for all of em, so the more you add to the pot the bigger the bill gets......... just a thought.

Too true! We are also going to have to drive 1 car down or get a rental down there... Each team is allowed 1 support vehicle (extremely necessary) the vehicle carries all extra food and supplies. Ideal situation would be to have the support vehicle and an extra "mechanic" on board. Someone to change wheels for us in the evnt of punctures and then replace the tubes, etc while we are still riding... (behind us in the car) I will supply some demo Gipiemme wheels for this no problem :D

Not quite, I was deeply embedded in the group and never led the way (I do not know the route). Only time I rode away from them was on the last hill on William Nicol going up to Main Road. I got fed up with them hitting the brakes when they see an uphill, and generally had enough of the whole thing.

Trubie, pity I've not read the article yet, but I concur they are pretty ruthless in their disregard of the road rules. And there was a guy on a red Cervelo who could just not hold his line around a corner.... Was pretty scary being close to him....

Trubie did say he's organised a car for this event.

I'm the driver

Soon you'll be sponsoring the bikes to

Just remember that we ride quality aka Campag so please don't put any Sh!tram or Sh!tmano on the frames (which also means the freebodies need to be Campag).

You need to keep your dad in the loop, he was very surprised the other when I pitched up with a big black box. ;) ;) Thanks.

Guys as much as I am keen it would be useful to know how much cost we are in for

That would depend on how you choose to get to CT & back.

You could do a Frail (Dave) and cycle down do the event and cycle back up.

Just imagine how many laps you'll do at the 24 after doing that training ride.

What we actually need is a sponsor, maybe we should look for a tender :D :D :D

Trip down this year cost me a tad over R1000 for flights on 1 Time (they dont charge extra to travel with a bike) and Accom worked out about R2500 a head with meals - excl the mountain the guys ate on route...

So we'll need about R5000.00.

Don't know if I'd be comfortable with my bike in the boot of the airplane <_< <_<

I know kid. The day we did the two lapper, the big machine was the one making the pace hot on the first lap. Apparently he had instructions from one ND to make us tired on the first lap so ND could enjoy a nice slow second.

Big S is fast and strong.

Ijuba, this whole red light thing has gotten totally out of hand, but like that's a non issue. How many times have we been along Swartkoppies and not stopped at the red light that is now at the rugby club? More then once, that's for sure. Never heard you complain about it before.

At the end of the day,the choice to ride with us is yours and your alone. I think it fair to say that most of the inhabitnts of this thread are roadies and as such, we do ride on roads. I can also guarantee, that if they had red traffic lights in the bush on the single tracks and places where the offroaders ride, we would have similar debate about cyclist behaviour.

Let's not merge threads here.

It is not rolling through that irks me, but the blatant disregard for everybody and everything this morning that got me hot under the collar... But I agree, keep the red robots away from our Fred.

back to the cost of eating a mountain then!
