Did the Northgate Dome Crit again tonight, plenty of bleeding through the eyes fun

It took me 46:22 to do 29 laps. It measured at 25.72km with 440m ascent and was the best I ever did at the crit. Ave HR worked out at 86%, using 175 as an arb max, but it does seem to be in the general ball park for cycling. Good way to measure fitness and progress as it is repeatable, just as IanJ said.

Had a great ride home yesterday after a good one into the office in the AM. :)

Right up until about 6 this morning I was contemplating the dryness of motor travel to work versus getting wet and cold on the bike. Since it wasn't really raining that hard, I was still tempted to ride. Then that little chicken inside me said "NO."

Thank goodness, it was just a light rain until the centre of JHB and then the heavens opened. I think I might have got washed away if I used two wheel transport this morning. :(

PH, I think TT (Tequila Tea) is gross. Just can't quite get my taste buds into that one. Now Vitamin S on the other hand is a very civilised drink once one acquires the taste for it. It has become my poison of choice to the exclusion of all else.

You see, Ox, I always told you that you would do astounding things on a bike if you put in some good training. Looks like that spanish steak is finally working. :P Oh, and I think maybe that running might have had some benefit as well.

Aah Slave, but I still got lapped, lapped and lapped some more. I think that except for the ladies and the blokes who did not finish the whole 45minutes, everybody lapped me at least twice. All the running did the cardio and ability to recover a world of good thumbup1.gif

Andy - how on earth can a team such as the Lux team (sponsored by Dove beauty soap) call themselves Team Leopard??????? I mean really naf or what?

A training camp you say? We dont need a camp, we need a Jan 2011 meeting to discuss the arrangements and dish out some work. Then we leave each to their own devices and we have a follow up every month. It can be preceded by a ride somewhere...

Then in second half of the year we will arrange some team training rides leading up to the event.... First we need to fill the last 3 spots on the team (we have options and lines in the water, so I'm waiting to hear what them hubbers say) and get at least 2 non travelling reserves to fill in if Andy or someone has sudden stuff to do that pops up two days before we depart :)

Slave - hang tough china...... some ACDC tonite should see you through

Trubie, seems like your eyes are going like Kid's! Or you just got water in them from riding in the rain because you can't read. I said TEAM CAMP, not TRAINING CAMP.

ACDC was always a bit too scary for me. :(

There are no ghosts attached to any of that stuff. It's the Air Supply, Lone Star, Bette Midler and that sort of thing that has to be exorcised. ;)

I can like to listen to "vleisrolletjie" (Meatloaf), Bon jovi and Deff leppard though.

Air Supply and Def Leppard are great! Also Moby's "Extreme Ways".

Thank you! i am on here because i am doing some stats for work and while i am waiting for emails i check out the hub!

I am also gonna list my bike to sell as i am gonna upgrade to a slinky italian bike! My new years resolution is to cycle more!

Slavey stop this vitamin s thing! buy tea-quila rather! :P

Slave, that is bad advice! Tequila is for a sissy. Stroh rum is the stuff to have!

Rode MTB last night and the knee was 'OK', rode a bit harder tonight and it was 'good' ... road bike ride in the morning lets see :D

Having laser treatment on the hands, hopefully speed up the healing :)

Heal up soon, BigS!

I will be taking picture, not riding. I can't get there from work in time to ride but I can get there a bit later and take pictures. Prove that you were actually riding and not sitting on the side watching them "lap" you.

I'm sure the boss would not mind if you leave a tad earlier next week? Alternatively, you can always go in a bit earlier... :)

If you were fast enough you could have gotten the laps/route etc via FB/Garmin Connect(GC), but now it is set to private on GC.

Just as convenient as having some work to do 'all of a sudden'.... I know who I'll trust in this case.... laugh.gif wink.gif

At least I have something to show for it. With GC nobody can see if it actually happened. ;)

Show us what you have to show for it. Then, and only then will I show what I have thumbup1.gif

I have a nice bonus (don't get ideas Kid, I am not buying you anything!), a certificate and the speech from my boss at our awards ceremony. As the boss said, "Whatever we ask Andy to do, Andy does." So I have recognition at work to show for it.

Now show us yours. You can post a screen shot here for us to see.

I have no doubt that there are many cyclists out there who are better and faster than you and I. I would probably have got lapped more times than you did. Fact is, you have now set the bar higher because of better performace. Anything in the right direction is good. It gives you a new benchmark to improve on next time out.
