@Slave

You need to ride more. All this sitting around is causing your head to fill up with really crappy ideas.

But just out of interest Trubie & I were discussing the Epic this morning.

Trubie is keen but he needs a sponsor.

@TRubie. Yep, it seems that Epic is not for sissies. Since Kid is being chicken about baby IM, maybe we should convince him to do the Epic as an alternative.

@ Mav. Welcome to the thread. On Saturday and Sunday morning there are groups that ride out from Xumbugs / dirt trackers or some junk. Intersection of Swatkoppies and Klip RIver. The faster group leave at around 7 and the more social groip leave just after that.

May I suggest that you read up on bunch riding and ettiquette before you joing the group. It will give you a basic knowledge of how to ride in a bunch and what not to do.

Make it your life's mission to stay away fromthe dolly on the Eddie MErx bike. She will moan your ear right off.

BTW, while some of us do live on this thread, but we are not always online. You only need to ask your question once and someone will get back to you before too long. ;)

@Slave. cheers for the info.i have been doing so much reading its coming out my ears.i just want to get out there..The bug bit me over a silly bet about 2 months ago and all i want to do now is cycle

@Kid. What crappy ideas dude? I learned all these crappy ideas from the master. (a blue child.) :unsure:

@ Mav. You're welcome. On this thread we consider it good ettiquette for you to find out who we are and introduce yourself. :thumbup:

Trubie is the (Not so) fatty on the Pinarello FP6. Kid will be the pint sized dude on a different bike every time you see him. In close company with him is usually Hummingbird (Kids offspring). You might be lucky enough to see me there sometimes. I ride a Trek SLR and mostly in Panda Kit. Tall skinny dude.

JUst be careful of them, they are racing snakes. Even if kid denies this, it's just a ruse. I am the slow old fart. :blush:

@Slave

Ox has always wanted to do the IM he just needed somebody to believe in him & give him some encouragement. At times he also didn't know that he wanted to do the IM but we all know his potential.

That was a great idea, now this idea you have about me doing the Epic is a real crappy idea.

Apparently our team mate who is currently at the Epic spent 10hrs on his bike yesterday, now I like my bike but I doubt I like my bike that much.

Still need to get my head around riding my bike for 7hrs but I still have some time to get my head around that.

Oh come on Kid, we all know you can do the DC in way under 7 hours. Besides, Epic is MTB and they have fat tyres so they should be a little more comfy. Not to mention that they have suspension as well now, so you should be real comfortable. :thumbup:

We also all know that you badgered the poor Ox into submission as far as IM goes. I would ask Andy to back this up, but I think he is somewhere on the other side of the equator doing a silly race that involvs riding on serious cobbles. By the time he is done with this, he may well have questionable brain function from all that jarring. :unsure: His eyes migh also still be bouncing around their orbits so his sight may also be impaired. :P

Dude I do not know where you get your info, but it'll be better if you fire your sources. I admire the triathletes, and their dedication to the discipline and volume of training required. But... me doing Ironman, or even comrades? NOT A CHANCE DUDE, not even a small one!

That's what you said about swimming.

So how was your swimming session, yesterday ?

Swimming was on Tuesday, and it was a measly 20 minutes masquerading as a 'recovery' session. Did 14 lengths in that time :blush: holding onto a kickboard :unsure: . No circuit or swimming last night, as I had to bail on my track (running) session due to a sore calf muscle. Seeing the physio this afternoon. Hopefully I can still fit in a run at the club TT

@agteros

truth be told I couldn't remember which day you were going to swim on so I just guessed.

It's a start Agteros, 14 lengths this week, 28 lengths in 4 weeks time, etc.

No chance for that. It stays at twice weekly sessions of 20 minutes. I cannot afford to experiment close to the duathlon champs on the weekend of 7 May.

After that I need to add endurance and strength to my cycling for the DC and no gears 94.7. Also need to keep the running up. Apparently there is a 1/2 marathon towards the end of the year with my name (and a time of 90 minutes) penciled in!

No time for funny stuff in the pool really, it is just for recovery

So you going to drop your mate Slavey ?

He's counting on you for the 1/2 IM early next year.

Haven't I heard you say that you won't do any MARATHON's ?

Don't half MARATHONS count ?

He did not ask for my help. If you offered it, you did not ask me about it. Better you now live up to YOUR promise!!! :clap:

Half marathons are 21.095km. Full marathons (double that distance) is what is referred to as a MARATHON. So, the answer to your question is NO.

Yes, it is just a start. Although 14 lengths suggests he started already. ;)

You said "no chance" before and now you started swimming. Soon you will be training with Nance's family in the pool. Twice weekly until May and then it increases. ;)

I am planing to do the Epic in 2013. Although there is the small matter to get through first next year which is Ronde van Vlaanderen and Paris-Roubaix. :D
