Been down there at around 95 and never went off' date=' was told it wasn't possible to set it off with a bicycle ........ maybe with an MTB it can then!

94 is my best so far. Not too sure why I only got 86 the other day. May have had something to do with the run-up speed. With the camera there you kinda have to wait for all the traffic to clear which means stop and wait a bit.

When I got 94 it was before the cameras though and I could just go down from a rolling start.

You guys go like bulllets hey?

The most I get om my bicycle is 69/70 .. but then I only have a 50tooth blade u front, and smallest at back is 12 ..... Can't compete against 53x11 with that... smiley6.gif

During the previous century I once got 104 on my Bridgestone RB2, but that was just plain scary!

Oxmansmiley1.gif, you been quiet lately.

104 is some speed dude. Camaro is a mine shaft. Really steep. I got about 6.5 to 7.2 ks an hour going up there on Wed.

Turned me into a quivering mass of jelly by the time I got to the top.

You look good for your age though dude, I must say.

Can't talk along, coz I'll miss my bike too much. Next time (since the Berg loop) I can be on my bicycle is next weekend.

However, I'm busy wondering 'bout doing the BSG Energade Triathlon series...

These are the 20th position times per leg for the Vet men at last years Germiston event;

Swim(p20) 00:13:35 giving 00:00:34 per 25m (gym pool length)

Bike(p20) 00:40:13 giving  29.84km/h

Run(P20) 00:25:08 giving 00:05:02 per km

Now these are all doable, except for the swimming as I swim like a brick. So for somebody who who swims for survival and NOT sport, what is a reasonable / doable time for 600m openwater swimming?

Not sure there Oxman. Never done 600 m open water swimming.

I thought this thread was about groupie happenings in and around Alberton.

What made you decide to become "agtereend"?

There is a dam in Alberton where I can time you if you want. You may have to do two lengths though. smiley17.gif

My son done 2 of these last year.

If I remember correctly he done the swim in about 15min, he's best time was at the Pukke one where he done it in 1hr 22min and at the Germiston one he done a 1hr 26min, he said there are a lot more hills on the Germiston cycling route.

Ox, an athlete like you should do these in under an hour.

Just remember that the Ironman is in April so you'll have to push yourself a little.

Slaveman I've not taken the plunge [yet] but the duathlons are few and far between (and I need something to do post 94.7!)

There's another thread where some guys are planning to cycle from CPT to JHB in December over 14 or sa days' date=' that will keep sort your December out.

Then in Feb (I think) there is the half Ironman and the Fast One (Jan), Ride 4 Site, Carnival, etc then in April there's the big one Ironman SA.

All this should keep you out of mischief [img']https://assets.bikehub.co.za/legacy_images/smilies/smiley32.gif[/img]smiley32.gifsmiley32.gif

We went down there on Wed and I hit 86 odd (or close to it) and it never triggered the camera.

(I ride that old steel peejou.)

So what speed you get going down the mineshaft?

It was dark so didn't see at the time, when I got home the computer had the top end at 75 k's. There was a chubb armed response vehicle about three metres in front of me so he may be whacked - ironically he hit anchors.

So, do I call you "Ox" or "Duck" when you do decide to take the "plunge"?

Dude, you are a talented person. You have potential on the bike, and I guess, with enough training, could be a fair runner. You hardly have time for the bike, where are you going to find time to swim as well?

Wait, run around the shower. (Oh crap, that won't work.)

I was watching some of the triathletic stuff on TV the other week and it looked like fun. Just so much more training and not enough time to train for all these disciplines. Takes lots of time mate.

Indigo Kid, you obviously miss my little power rests on the bike when we go out cycling... I can't maintain high(ish) speeds for long distances. Hence my little surges at critical times...

Athlete like me? I've been training for 6 months now and can only now run 25 minute 5 kms ... nothing spectacular there! need to drop another 5 mins to 20mins to be considered 'athletic'

Those times I've quoted gives 1:18 dunno where to shave the last 18 miutes from it to get to 1 hr....

Coz I'm not gonna get to 40km/h for 20km (30 mins) smiley19.gif

13 minutes swim for 600m seems a bit outside my league (A LOT IN FACT)

Can't think I'll get to a 20 min 5km (4min/km) at the end of the above anytime soon.... Coz to get to 60 minutes I'll have to swim for 10 minutes... Sheez I can give a guarantee that THAT ain't gonna happen (EVER!)

Maybe I'll rather enter the 94.7 in group YY again then I have lots of MTBs to chase down on my way to an mediocre-ish time smiley1.gif

came down Comaro on the mountain bike this morning at 05h30 - nearly had a hard attack when the camera went off

What you meant to say' date=' was that you woke up at 5h30 ?

Nope was on the road at five, must have had a bad Catemba last night so had serious heartburn and couldn't sleep

Only one way to test this. We'll have to go down again. When you wanna try this? Long as I don't have to cycle up Camaro, all is well.
