Not sure kid' date=' looking for all sorts of ways to ditch weight and baggage. Not sure ot will count in the bike though and that's where it matters.

It does have it's upside though, I get to meet new people every day.

Are you sure they weren't the same people you met yesterday ?

Who said anything 'bout piddling on the bird? What' you scared of that little fella on the red and white Prince? Ha!

Last week he chickened out of the steps. Made some lame excuse about riding up from Meyerton for an hour to come and ride and then headed back by turning right on the bridge.

So are you saying that GreyOwl is actually a chicken ?

That explains why I can never catch him.

I think he went to the shops for a coke and a rest before he rode up the steps. Maybe he was too embarrased to be seen with me on my farm gate.

Tell you what kid, you distract him for a bit and I'll clip a few wing feathers.

How do you suggest I catch this Owl / Chicken ?

Ox the problem is the MTB, it's not you it's the bike.

And this Babbas you speak of sounds very much like Baballas which could also slow you down.smiley11.gifsmiley11.gifsmiley11.gif

Softies

or just very aware of the danger of cycling in minus zero temps for too long (especially to the exposed parts of your anatomy)

Kid, with these pics you are gonna drive all the perv's down to the south for rides.

All Slave's good work to get a decent bunch of riders together, is now down the drain.

Everyone in the South with a daughter/s  - lock your gates

Ya man.... and I need a 'safe' environment to introduce somebody to road cycling... Will have to do it in the Wild Wild West smiley24.gif

Sheeeesh. threads been dead allday and suddenly, it's come alive.

150 pages and all I've learned from it is that the okes here lie. Nuwbie, Kid and Agteros say they're slow and I say I'm fast.

It has been a fun 150 pages though, found some good riding mates and had some awesome rides, breakfast and a visit to the track.

No harm, no foul. Traded a few ideas on training and dumped on Nuwbie as often as possible. Kid and Agteros too.

Agteros, moenie so skaam wees nie, jy is so sterk soos n os, 'k. Strong as an OX dude. So Oxman it is, Kid has grown to be quite the speedster and maybe needs to have his eyes checked because I saw 48 on my speedo that fateful day on the road. Brag all you like dude, it was an awesome session you put in.

Nuwbie, change your login dude, cause you're one dark horse. Say you're slow and then tell other to take credit where it's due. You are a bit fatser than you let on but only a little.

Ever noticed how the wise old bird doesn't say much though. I think he just sagely listens and adds a wise quip every now and then.

Seriously, I think that while this is not the biggest thread yet, it is the fastest growing one. It has all been about rides, riding and about cycling. Very few detours, so it's a good thread thanks to all of you.

Alberton cycling has grown a little community out of this thread and I'm proud of that. It has also helped another hubber to find joy in riding again and of that, I feel really good.

The banter is good and we've even had some intersting exchanges of information and ideas on training.

It's a good thread and I hear that other want to come and ride with us because of this. Let's keep it going for another 150 pages and keep it the way it has been.

It is after all, not a solo effort.

You realise Kid, that is the first girlie pic that has appeared in this thread. Nice snow.

Getting back to the owl man. Not sure what I said about him, he may be a chicken but looks like an owl and flies like an eagle. Confused fella that one.

Still wanting to know what happened to Narco. Did he drown in his bottle that night or is he still suffering from that hangover. Dude, I have a cure for hangovers but like you have to ride with us to earn the recipe. 'k? So when are you going to come down and ride. You chicken or what?

So, Nuwbs, tomorrow, you have a good ride man. Enjoy your race. Shjee hom gas maat. Give it stick man.

Slave = Slave2love??

Not sure if its the same dude, but will reply anyway

I agree Slave, when I accidentally stumbled acroos the site in Jan this year, a whole new world opened to me. I have enjoyed my stay so far, and if you want me to be a dark horse, I'll be just that - only to please you.

I enjoy my riding , my hub visits and my friends

Have a lekka workers day- see you on sat if all goes well.

I am off to a course from 2-5 - now that is bad planning for you - sure the poor facilitator will have his work cut out for him this avie.

150 pages and all I've learned from it is that the okes here lie. Nuwbie' date=' Kid and Agteros say they're slow and I say I'm fast. [/quote']I ain't fibbing... My highest ave ever is like 31km/h

No harm' date=' no foul. [/quote']

foul, or fowl?

Traded a few ideas on training and dumped on Nuwbie as often as possible. Kid and Agteros too.

I'll send you the T/paper account (triple ply is what is used!

Agteros' date=' moenie so skaam wees nie' date=' jy is so sterk soos n os, 'k. Strong as an OX dude. So Oxman it is[/quote'']

I have it from good authority (Sport physician & biokineticst) that my quads AND my hamstring are WAAAAY underpowered.... so no it ain't so!

Kid has grown to be quite the speedster and maybe needs to have his eyes checked because I saw 48 on my speedo that fateful day on the road. Brag all you like dude' date=' it was an awesome session you put in.

Ok, so now I get it... Kid was doing 38 and Slave was racing at 48 gesticulating for space to overtake....

Nuwbie' date=' change your login dude, cause you're one dark horse. Say you're slow and then tell other to take credit where it's due. You are a bit fatser than you let on but only a little.

Slave, you calling the dark horse a bit fatser? He is going to klap you up the steps!!!

Ever noticed how the wise old bird doesn't say much though. I think he just sagely listens and adds a wise quip every now and then.

wise bird, owl, chicken, fowl.... which is it now?

Slave, thanks for starting this thread! And to all the others putting up with us: The cycling has been a lot of fun so far. To those who follow our delusions here, and have not joined yet; What are you waiting for?

Indeed, what are you waiting for. Racman, take a plunge dude, It's like getting into a swimming pool, you will only get wet and know if it's too cold when you take the plunge. We talk a big ride but mostly just have fun. We work hard on some rides and just chill on others.

Narco has def taken the chicken run home, and speaking of chickens, the owlman is just as foncused as I am Ox, 'cept with me it's more as a result of permanent brain damage.

See you're a bit foncused too. Nuwbie is the slave driver. Remember that ride to the berg, how he cracked that whip on the way back. Eish. That was a working ride.

So maybe your highest ave is only 31, but you're always the one up front and back down the pack and then up front mostly when we ride. I've seen you.smiley17.gif

Dark horse, you can be whoever you want dude. I've seen you ride too. Jy kan hoor, jy kan.

Good thread and good mates made here. It's way cool.

(Psst, Dark Horse has gone home so I'm going to make like Donald and duck. I'll be at Xumbugs tomorrow morning for a fast flip, and then again on Saturday and Sunday. See some of you on the roads and to the rest of you, have a cool long weekend. The last for a while thank goodness, I can get back to normal working hours again.) Eish, I need to get back to work for a rest.

Enjoy, Enjoy.

Ox, somebody is lie to you or you misunderstood.

Are you sure they didn't say overpowered ?

Ox' date=' somebody is lie to you or you misunderstood.

Quads and hamstrings are not strong enough <--- Just about the exact words

Sports Physician = Dr. Jon Patricios (Centre for Sports Medicine)

Biokinetics practice = Jannie Klingbiel

I doubt that with their credentials, they'll lie to me?

Initially (Aug 2008 - when I started training) my kneecaps did not stay on track in their grooves so I went to the above gentlemen as I could hardly get up out of a chair!

Quantitative tests were done, percentages of body mass required were mentioned, photos were taken and analysed (stickers on all joints) blah-di-blah... Exercises were prescribed smiley1.gif and not completed, micro-tear in quad tendon, follow-up consultations, cortisone injection...smiley9.gif

Low-tech solution to fitness and body wellness was taken smiley4.gif and I took a break for a while, and then took things slower, starting in Feb 09.

Have to admit the thing that did the most for improving the running, was deep tissue/sports massage on the legs!

In my own layman interpretation, I've narrowed the initial problems I had down to my VMOs (Vastus Medialis Obliquus)not being up to scratch, although not all docs agree that they can/do help with the kneecap alignment.

Have to admit the kneecaps are not painful anymore!

If I'm strong[er] it must be the little bit of running I do!!!!  <-- Just shy of 20km a week smiley9.gif because the cycling once or twice every 2 weeks sure ain't going to make a difference?

I dread the day when you guys with all your cycling are just going to go 'snap' and off you go leaving me behind, coz it IS going to happen!
