Where did you hear this? I'm sure that all Olympic and Commonwealth Games sports codes have to be members of SASCOC. What do you mean that cycling has no representation at SASCOC?

The members of SASCOC (The South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee) are representatives of all sporting codes. The Board is made up of ELECTED AND APPOINTED MEMBERS AND A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE IOC. Sylvia Dale was elected by her peers to sit on the board and according to their web site (as below) she still is a member. Even if she is not, Cycling is still an affiliated member. NOT all sport's representatives sit on the Board. Well done Sylvia

Cycling has lost it position on the board of SASCOC but still remains a member affiliate of the congress.

Losing the position might not mean much for us cyclists but CSA actually loses out on what gets discussed at board level and have no chance of colluding with your buddies on the board to aid your views.

OF further interest is that with Moss gone now and Gideon taking over we will have more fighting as he is not one to listen to Buti and Cedric shooting their mouths off, the other point of interest is ASA not gaining a board position as well and suspending the only hope they had of getting in by the back door through one of their provincial heads.I guess all the money will dry up now as the business world will not like the mud slinging about to take place in the coming months.

Have you heard how Mr Cheune stuffed his chances up on this one.I think this is the only Sports board/congress in Africa he does not hold board position on.

Moss was racist a while back and Sam does not align himself with Buti at all.

Mallo, I'm a bit out of touch with local sport politics these days. However, I'm surprised ASA (athletics) isn't on the SASCOC board as it's one of the biggest/most successful sports, with a very favourable racial mix! Chuene must have really done something silly! Gideon Sam was once head of Swimming SA so is at least aware of the challenges faced by Olympic sports. I can't see him doing any worse with SASCOC than what Moss did. That Beijing Games must be the bottom of the barrell, surely! Moss is a nice guy (spent a fair bit of time with him at the Atlanta Games) but nice guys don't always get the job done! I think they should get Cyril Ramaphosa to head up SASCOC... Run it like a business the way all modern sport should be run...
