as you leave hartenbos in an eastern direction you will go over the N2 and then you go strrraaaaiggght.

That would be route R328 towards Oudtshoorn..

Another road bike route would be the Herbertsdale road. From the N2 - outside Mosselbay - towards CT' date=' turn right towards Herbertsdale.

so do you have to cycle on the N2 to get off at the Hdale offramp/turnoff?

not nice if so!!

If you would prefer to ride off-road, Mosselbay-vicinity have mostly gravel roads. No real mtb here (that I know of - have enquired, but so far not lucky).  However, George's club - Hillbillies, know of good mtb places to ride.  I'm planning on checking out those places next year - after the holidays. They're also very helpful.

If, however, you're happy with gravel roads: Hartenbos towards Oudsthoorn (R328) - about three to four km out of HTB, you can turn left onto dirt roads and ride for hours all over the show - all the way towards Kleinbrak river.

We will be in Hartenbos on the 3rd and 4th of March.  Will bump this post again when it gets closer to the time.  Is there anybody in Graaff Reinet and Goudini where can we cycle there?
