Training program - advice needed

We are following the Lance Armstrong Performance Programme by Carmicheal. We have to do a time trial of 3 miles (4.83km) to determine our base fittnes level and to measure progress. They give a table with completion times rating your fitness and where you should slot in to the programme for men and women. This is for half bicycles. We ride Tandem and do not even have half bikes here in Angola. What type of adjustment do we have to make for the "faster" speed of a Tandem or is the difference negligable?

You need to know the fitness level of both riders which imo means doing an individual test for both of you.

You could do this one at a time on the tandem or with the other rider on the bike but not actively contributing.

Not having ridden a tandem EVER, how difficult / possible is it to solo on a tandem?
