'K so yesterday arvie, I was really doff and went for a ride. I got caught in a heavy cloudburst type thunderstorm.

I got soaked but that was easily solved with a towel when I got home. The bike, well, different story.

Other than cleaning the chain, the break blocks and the frame, what sort of maintenance do I need to do? The idea here is preventive maintenance and I have already promissed SO that today I will rest so I guess it is faff about with the bike day. (Hey, I need something to keep me out of the house for secveral hours seeing as though I won't be riding.

Do I have to get into all the BB bits like wheel and crank bearings and re-grease everything?

Do I have to take off the tyres and makse sure no water is in there? I am clueless on this one.

On a few occasions after riding in the rain I have ended up with water inside the frame. When tipping the bike onto it's back wheel, water has run out of (I assume drainage) holes near the rear dropouts. I have since heard that Scott frames are prone to this. What bike is it? Perhaps check for water just in case? JB, any comments?

Them is not "Drainage holes" them is there so that when the tubes where brazed into the lugs, gasses  could escape. Anyway, this is a 900 year old peugeot... there is no other damage possibleWink

That's handy then, the holes made for gas to escape allow me to avoid a BB service after riding in the wet!Big%20smile

IT IS NOT 900 years old.

Ok, maybe 850 but I would like it to last another few years before it goes out to the great bicycle happy hunting ground.LOL
