Hmm... you guys got me thinking! I could get one for use on tour de tuli!!but would have to get lots of sd cards!!

There is a cable that fits into your iPod and you can download off a camera and use your iPod as a hard drive. So technically you can have a small storage device for 160 Gigs.

I am not sure if this works on a video camera or especially one of these but I dont see why not.

Strange for me it is more stable on the handlebar. I have tested it with the same downhill once on helmet and then on the handlebar and the one I did on the handle bar was more stable.

The other problem I was battling with was to get the mounting correct on the Helmet. When you get it correct for when you are sitting and you stand up it looks at the sky and you cant see the trail. If you set it op for when you are standing them when you sit back down you have a nice view of a rotating wheel....

For me it works best on the handle bar, I am using a thick piece rubber between the bar and mount and that helps a lot with stability.

Hmmm.... wonder if I could download to my Nokia e71 that I am getting? be cool to get video of each day's cycling. 70- 90kms of cycling. hmmmm... okay, just highlights!

Could a person buy a cheapish video camera and mount it to the handlebars? if so, how would you do that? Just thinking of the short recording time.

Have a look at www.bhphotovideo.com they have more professional stuff, think they are about $360 though, but   are tv quality.

The cards are dirt cheap though. I bought a 2gig card from incredible connection for R110.

re: those cams from Cape Union, cool idea, 30 fps is fine, BUT, the resolution is not too good. Cool for home use etc, but considering the pro option of a pencil cam and clamshell will set you back over 50k, its not bad. Still, the images wont be nearly good enough for broadcast. Probably be ok for YouTube type blog clips, but anything else u'r wasting your $$$. Basically, you get what you pay for.

Or we can spend about R1500 and buy a Sony cam and strap it to the handlebars! I want to look at the second hand market as well.
