Hi

Had my Schwinn Fast Back Elite for about three months now.

Took my bottle cage off to mount a pump yesterday, and realized that the little lug that has the thread in it that is braze/welded onto the frame is turning inside the frame. (I did not over tighten it it came loose when I was loosing the bottle cage) The thread is ok, but the lug has come loos on the frame.

Is this repairable, or should I see if Schwinn would replace the frame??

Those lugs are not brazed onto the frame. It is a Rivnut (look it up on Google) and a little bit like a pop rivet. They often do what you describe and it is easily fixable by a good bike shop or the frame suppliler.

It is so much easier to fix than rebuilding the bike, which is the best practical reason you shouldn't ask for a new frame. Morally of course the fact that the defect is so small, inconsequential and repairable that asking for a new frame is just unfair.

Thanks guys, I spoke to Lionel form Omnico, and he will sort it out for me.

He is going to send down the tool to my LBS, so they can re-rivnut the lug in place.

Thanks for the help.
