A Softail doesn't have 2 separate triangles whereas a Full Susser does.

 

The softail generally utilises a carbon rear section in association with a small travel shock to allow limited rear suspension travel.

Hey saw the definitions, you learn something new everyday. I have a DH though but the my landlord called it a softail and I looked it up and came accross this thread. Damn he was wrong!!!
