removing/fitting rear wheel with sram derailleur?

Recommended Posts

ok, so I sound like a newbie, but since moving over to the the other S (Sram) I recently had to take out my back wheel, and man was it tricky and putting it back was near impossible - I assume it has something to do with sram derailleurs not being able to pivot forward like a shimano???

any tips to get the wheel in and out easily and safely?

Take the wheel out again and practice moving the derailleur out of the way.  The top pulley gets in the way and leaves too little space between it and the cassette.  There is a trick but can't remember which way round.

ok, so you have to physically move the derailleur away with your 3rd hand right?

good thing with tubless and a thule roof rack, I take the wheel out about twice a year Big%20smile

Stand behind the bike and hold the axle in left and right hands, forefinger and thumbs, and then with your right hands remaining fingers push the derailleur back and the wheel pops out no problem.

Very easy. Do the reverse to put it back in.

I don't understand what the problem is.

I got Sram X0 and it comes on and off easy.Dont know how to explain it though.

And I got sh*tmano on my road bike which is just as easy.

Moved recently to Sram after only using big S

Had same problem

Used to put chain in small cog with big S - which made life easy removing. Did the same with Sram, had all sorts of problems - difficult to align disc, etc.

With Sram I find moving chain to middle of cog working well - now as easy as with big S

Let me know if it works
