Fanie you Avatar wobble nie meer nie!!!!!!!

wobble nou by signature Big%20smile

If something like a stem snaps you must take it up with bike shop/distributor.  If it is a part that must be recalled they wouldnt do it if the dont know about it and they would only know about it if people let them know.

Rather funny how a COMPLIMENT for good service turns into a SLUG FESTConfusedConfusedConfusedConfused

Next time the axle on my VW snaps I'll be sure to be ecstatic when the agent apologises and gives me the time of day to have a look. People in SA are so blown away by good, polite service. Ever been to the US? Over there great service is a given, to the point that it almost becomes too much.

Glad I cld make u laugh Bionic man.cheersClap

I bought a KCNC BB and needed to find the torque specs for it, I searched the web and could  find none, called the shop I bought it from nothing, then called the KCNC agents and a very friendly and helpful rep called me, he did not have the info at hand (he was out on the road).

He called me back about an hour later and  gave me all the info I needed. He spoke to a few mechanics he has contacts with and emailed me a manual for the BB, and gave me the BB torque specs specifically for my frame.

I thought that was quite awesome service I would never have got from any LBS.

Or they could have REALLY been professional and saved you the time and money calling by posting important information like torque settings on their website, like the many other reputable companies doWink

This is a waste of time. Lets acceprt that the service was good. I think it should be mentioned. Well done!!!

Wether SA service levels are good or bad is another debate, therefore it is moot to argue that its the norn, because in SA it is not the norm. Ok?

Give credit where due, because we all quick to whinge when its bad, or is it the Norm?

As it was my KCNC stem that broke  I agree that the accident could have been worse. Just 2 km furter it was the douwnhill side of Tradouspass. 70 kph  round the bend. I dont want to think about that.

I also agree that we dont want faults of that kind by any means because it is too dangerous. I must really say that the concern of the KCNC agent was  really impressive. His respond to me and the follow up was really very professional . His follow  up was even better. he is still keping contact with me in connection the stem.

My feeling about the case is that it is possible that anything made by man can brake for some or other reason. We dont know for sure that W.E  who put the parts together dit torque it correct. So we can not put the blame blindly on the product. There can be another reason also.

The impotant thing from my side is the way the problem is beiing dealt with and that everyboby must try to learn out of the mistakes other  people make. The most important thing I learn out of this happening that to trust nobody completely on your bicycle. Tjek their work and go through everything they have done because it is only one person on the bicycle an that is yourself.

KCNC do make such  special products that they also is part of the lekkerte of bicycling. Lets give them a chance and I shall keep you informed on the progress of the investigation.

Before I forget, the most important thing I learned out of the accident is enjoy your cycling  everyday you are healthy and on your 2  wheels because it is probably the best sport to be.

reminds me of a little bike shop I went into the other day. The guy was bleeding some AVIDs, or should I say, TRYING to bleed some. He didnt have the right bleed kit, and was using the wrong DOT fluid. Then to top it off when they stuffed up again the fluid shot into the guys face and eyes!!

My number one rule is to DIY. Especially where my brakes are concerned. I know that I'll take extra care servicing my shocks, brakes or any other part for that matter. The LBS is only good for buying patches.
