Hi People.

Quick one: Has anyone here serviced with Solomons?

If so what is the workmanship like? I have bought bits and bobs from the shop and am impressed as they are helpful and the prices are very good.

I have always advocated a good relationship with your bike shop and i am usually prepared to pay a bit more for the relationship, however i feel that i am being reamed out my a$$ with my current LBS' pricing.

quite reluctant to change.

As you put it, I have also bought a lot of spares from them.  Their prices are good.

I will however not service my bike with them.

I take my bike to Karsten Cycles.  Get good service good discount and some good chats too

Popped into the one in Woodmead for a browse and they took me on a tour of the shop, impressed. Was not intending to buy anything but walked out with a bargain winter kit, cant comment on their bike service though.

They recently helped me to loosen a pedal from a crank which I was told by another shop will be a new crank. Saved me a bundle and charged very little after stripping down the complete pedal and then again rebuilding it.

Buy all my parts from them as the prices are good.

Have however not serviced my bike there, but would not feel to hessitant.

I had a wheel rebuilt there, will see if it's any good once I pick it up. 1st gripe was they didn't phone me, I had to phone them.

Shot for the feedback y'all.

Wish i could buy the parts at Solomons and have them fitted at my LBS, but then you dont take your steak to a resturant and ask them to braai it.

Looks like i will get a bit hard ass with my LBS regarding price going forward, i know we all got to make a living, but jeez the price difference is night and day

that is so true,, I bought a frame and built my "old" mtb components over on this frame,, or rather I took it to one of our well known shops in the country,, (not the lab) to have my bike built up,,

cant say that i've been happy with it since then!
