Cycling shoes need to fit like a glove. You will probably find a size lower than normal should fit, but just try on many different sizes and buy some that feel comfortable.

you don't have to wear the thicker socks, although they are more durable and, of course, warmer in winter. we sell a lot of socks to people who come in to try shoes on.

i also saw that the proper falke socks are quite thick! so you need to allow for that...????

don't fall for the Falke MTB socks. Waaaay to hot to MTB in summer. Nice for the winter. Settle for their road socks.

The sox issue -

I used to wear the thick ones but I found my feet became numb after 3hrs on the road (so bad I had to stop on the fast one to readjust).

I now use the thinnest ones possible (like runners) and it seems to have improved blood circulation.  Still not sure whether I'm doing it right though
