Well its for a mate and he is looking at either the

 

Merida 96 3500 ALu

Scott spark (not sure which one)

or this Yeti Frame

 

Will be used for marathon and xc type riding, how comfortable is this frame ? See it did get award of some sort on there website

How comfortable is the frame? LOL Depends on where you.......oh never mind. They are great frames but you best best is to ride your 3 options.

Well its hand made in Colorado so quality should be great, and if he's more into long distances and marathon riding I think it will be better suited, specially if he's a heavier rider or takes more tumbles than most.

 

The Merida is in between the three bikes, with the scott being lighter and nippy, nice for lighter riders that are more xc orientated in my opinion.

Nope, new asr is made in Taiwan.

Come to think of it there were alot of Yeti at Sani, its the spark 30 he is looking at.

 

He is currently on a scott scale 50 (alu) how much more comfortable of a ride will a carbon HT be as he like his HT

Well I went from a cheap 15kg HT to a carbon 10kg HT GT and the difference is crazy!

 

The carbon is much quiter on the trails and is stiffer so it responds better.  It doenst flex like Ti but does soak up the vibrations so uneven road surfaces are allot more comfy when sitting.

 

But I think for the avearge guy a FS is probly better if you plan on doing multi day events...
