Cheap bearings in applications where the removal and refitting of the bearing is labour intensive are not an option. In most wheels it would work, not in PowerTap.

Mampara, we're talking cartridge bearing so roundness doesn't really affect the hub or damage it in any way.

Roundness only plays a role in your nice Shimano or Campag cup-and-cone hubs.

ok so I paid R8' date='25 per bearing for my DT swiss 240 hubs bearings(at a certain shop in Silverton Pretoria)...... that means I can service my hubs about 10time for the same price as servicing it at the normal price(I bet the R80 bearing wont last 10times as long)..... my bearings has been going for a while now and no problem..... this is that cheap indian and chinese bearings that you are ttalking about........[/quote']

but what about the damage it does to the hubs? I think Johann is talking about the roundness of the bearings more then then toughness.

.

the guy from DT inspected it before we used it and he serviced the hubs..... he didnt have problem with it......

Like with cheap brandy or cubic zirconia, inspection proves nothing.

Good cartrige bearings and poor cartridge bearings sall look the same, so taking a squizz at them tells you zip.

But if they work for you, they work for you.

I'm looking for cheaper FAG, SKF or NSK.
