I reckon you go for the Giant but Manfrog does have point about the Planet-X.

Shocked

I love my new Specialized Heart  So that's where my vote would go.  Perhaps you should ride both and then make a decision?

If weight is an issue with you, my Planet X with 105 weighs the same as Giants and Specialized with 105, BUT at half the price!

I know two of the cyclelab juniors bought Specialized road bikes' date=' and both of them cracked at the BB.

The new Giants have also been cracking, and I think there was a recall. I'll find the article and post it.

Good luck...

They must have been doing something extra ordinary, I'm over 100kg and my Specialized survived T boning a car at 40kmh.

I would buy the Spesh.....Our LBS sells both Giant and Spesh - Spesh outsells the Giants by at least 5:1. If you want a more relaxed ride take the Roubaix, but also try the Tarmac Comp if you want a more racy ride!!

Hi
Well apart form the BB cracking it seams like the Specialized wining.  But are there any Fact reasons why some one should consider Giant over Specialized vic versa .

Specs are very similar on the bikes

Giant

Specialized

Wind ?.

i reckon those two companies are similar in that they both pour a lot into r&d. would be happy to ride products either company makes.

As a certified Giant addict but recently converted on the road to Specialized I would say they are of similar overall quality. Comparing the TCR Advanced ISP and Tarmac SL2 both are fairly light and stiff. The ISP is definitely less comfy around posterior and absorbs road vibrations less well than the SL2.

Both are zippy out of the saddle and in the drops and feel responsive sprinting in close quarters and maneuvering in windy conditions around Killarney.

Handling and descending is impeccable in both but I find the SL2 to be a little more confident and less twitchy than the ISP.

Build quality on both is exceptional and as reported, there exists a chance to get a dud frame from either manufacturer but I don't think more likely from one to the other.

Personally I would rate the SL2 ever so slightly above the Giant, but it's a marginal thing. Both are good and for your needs will more than tick all the right boxes.

Go with your gut, pocket and eye. Never and easy choice but either way you'll be happy in the end and should have endless miles of enjoyment.

Good luck Thumbs%20Up
