Five guys have confirmed in cash. I have many promises still. I can't tell you what their nicknames are 'cause I'm confused. I only have real names on my spreadsheet and can't reveal those.

As for the question regarding the type of tipple for the weather. I won't state my policy publicly' date=' but have a look at the list of tools required.

Tools Required

Bucket or drain pan

Paper towels and/or rags

Plastic faced mallet

Frosty Beverage

Torque wrench

Measuring container with cc or ml increments

Fork oil

80wt gear oil for lubricating seals.

26mm 6-point socket

13mm Spanner

10mm socket

2mm allen key

1,5mm allen key

Flat blade screwdriver

Hacksaw - maybe

JB, I will supply my own "Frosty beverage" and I think you said you will supply Fork oil.

Should each participant bring along the rest of the tools on the list for the Cape Town workshop?

Hey that looks a lot like a certain Manitou Black I have in the garage!

I also don't see any Marzocchi's there. Was the afternoon workshop not self-loathing enough?

My former WB Magic 80 looked something like this - but only worse. Think the scuff mark had penetrated throught the anodized(?) outside layer, and through the inner layer as well... which, I was told, made it very risky to continue using...

And it was a sneaky mark... all that appeared above the dust wiper was a few slight marks... on opening up the proverbial iceberg was revealed - running all the way down inside the chamber...  Ouch

What was the verdict on this fork? Still good to go?

Man, can't wait...the pics looks great!!

JB, Remember you said you can organise me a fork - mine (Manitou Air shock) is brand new ~250kms and I do not want to open it yet.

I've got an old clapped out shock - do not even know the brand....is it worth it?

Unless someone else want their shock "serviced" by me Price = 6 x frostiesBig%20smile

Don't worry, I have a beauty for you....Hoooooog! Where's that horrible ruined, seized, waterlogged, smelly fork of yours?

He he....wait 'till you see this baby.

As for the rest of you, keep an eye on your mailboxes this weekend. All the details - address, what to wear, what to bring, when, why...it's all on its way...even an selection of excuses why you're late and smelling of fork-oil....errrr beer.

It'll be a blast, those wooden floors in the quant little conference centre won't know what's hit it.

LOLLOLLOL

What ruined fork? It's not ruined, just 'previously loved', or should that read not-loved...

You're welcome to pick it up and use it. Just maybe drain the oil before you get on the plane with it. Wouldn't want any 'accidents' to happen in your luggage. I would recommend rather strapping it to the underside of the plane, but we don't want the plane to skid off the runway because of the oil spill.

You call this "previously loved" Maybe you apply love like Rhiana's boyfriend.

And this????

Tough love, I'd say. I can still see my appie's cross-eyes when we opened that thing and this stink of vrot water filled the workshop.

I won't do this to anyone, even if he is from Cape Town.

I can bring 2 forks (Rock Shox Recon) if needed.

Both forks where sent in for a service end Aug. 2008 and (unfortunately) my wife and I have not been on the MTBs as much as we wanted since then.

At most 50h on them both, so they don't need a full service yet...

It's OK. The scuff mark is on the inside by the upper bushing and unless it is binding in the bushing, OK. A good service will more than likely arrest the damage which is typical from either no oil or contaminated oil.

If that scuff was however at the top seal, it may cause the seal to leak no matter what and then it is time for euthenasia.

Attention all Capetownians.

I have some good news.

Those who confirmed your places, please check your e-mail for important information regarding the Cape Town workshop. Log into your work mail if you have to or send me an alternative weekend address.

Anyone else in Cape Town who may still be interested in the workshop, I've managed to make additional spaces and slots available. E-mail me for more details.

Jb - I've popped you a mail with an alternative address...

mmmmmm Big%20smile.... Frosties!!!

I have a old, entry level RST Capa lying around in the shed that I'll bring along as well... I only got my fork in December - so I'm also a bit nervous about opening it up... We can have a brief debate about whether or not we should on the day... over a beer. Smile

When is this one happening?

The Cape Town one?

Friday 15 May at 14:00, somewhere in Kalk Bay.

If you're keen - email JB, since he might still have a spot available.

Uhmmm... looks like we could be on for Saturday the 16th instead?Big%20smile

We'll be sorting it out during the course of tomorrow, depending on what the majority of the participants are happy with - so keep an eye on this thread if any of you were interested but couldn't make it on the Friday...
