I know this topic has been debated for ages but I would really like to know, what is the best wheel for all round use, a light weight low profile wheel or a deep section heavier wheel?

For SA races, imo aero beats low mass - we never race over mountains on the road, no 20km climbs etc.

Lots of low mass aero wheels available, too, depending on your budget.

Lightweights of R40-50k

Zipp 303s or 404s / Eastons / Reynolds from R10-20k (2nd hand sets available every now and then)

Planet X, Taiwanese Edge, Zeifro for < R10k

I would like to stick to clinchers. How do you rate Mavic cosmic carbones?

These are by far some of the best rolling wheels i have ever raced with i currently race them and if i had the choice the only upgrade would be a set of bora's or a set of easton EC90's

nero i raced wilro on them and will probably race most of my races on them except jock and yes they are on the heavy side but they are bomb proof wheels and i probably wont be trading them anytime soon!!
