I don't know about the full water proof - most of them are so hot and you sweat more than it actually rains.

I've got a windbreaker - FA dheuz - its water resistant - what this means in real terms are - they keep most of the water out - but you feel cold inside as the material sticks to your skin.

I would buy a more puffy / windbreaker like the cape storm I Posted - will stay dryish and still be warm enough to keep the water freeze off your skin.

I see they make a

Slipstream Jacket - ZAR 375.00

which seems the same as the pricier one, except for the zip-off sleeves?

Go with Endura. Trust me. They are the ONLY company who manage to make waterproof gear that is breathable. Our breathable gear that is water resistant.

Brilliant.

Imported by www.fullsail.co.za ...same guys who do Felt and IceToolz

Yeah, does seem the best bet... the price is rather out of whack though... maybe as a long term investment at some point.

I know it's not very 'cool'' date=' but if visibility is your main concern then why not wear a safety jacket over your rain jacket?... the type that they wear on construction sites.  Very bright and have reflective strips.  Just a thought.

You can buy this in Stellenbosch....there isa shop that sells refeltive clothing etc.  In Plankenbrug somewhere....even "offcut" reflectice tape.

You can try and ake you own reflectice jacket by stiking (sowing?) it onto the jacket of your choice...

Purchased the Cape Storm Stratos today. Was a choice made easier by the price, having Cape Storm gift vouchers, and the 10% discount all PPA members get from their stores.

From what I can gather this top will be ideal for light showers and drizzle. When combined with a cycling shirt underneath I believe this should cover all my bases, apart from a total downpour.

I'm still keep to get those municipal jackets though, always handy.

Municipal jackets are only R70 from your local builders warehouse. Mine is now going into its 3rd winter (previous 2 where on my motorbike). There great for down pores and actual fold up rather small.

But I hope to get my Cape Storm jacket next weekend and just hope there is no rain next week :)

Does anyone know where i can get this jacket from in Cape Town?  & What is the best price for it?

Nice jacket (Dry Lite) but Ouch .... Price* - R1295.00 on their website.

Bit out of my price range for now' date=' but will consider it later on.

**EDIT**

Ok I found what I was looking for:

http://www.firstascent.co.za/product-details.php?prodid=817&catid=246&level=3

and can afford it too:

Price* - R575.00

Cycled to work in the rain with my municipal rain coat. The visibility made a difference, but I was just as wet when I got to the office if I had not worn it.

Check out Cape Union Mart - bought the Molecule Jacket from them on Friday for R275 - its is similar to other products costing R100 more. Used it this weekend and was really impressed. Folds up to the size of an apple :)

They also have some other nice rain jackets too.
