It's a great new method of hydrating. You soak the pack in water, then when you need a drink, you just suck on the bag. Works great and weighs less than a conventional bag with bladder, pipe and bitevalve.

Not only Bicycling, i'm still waiting for my copy of a recently launched magazine, subscibed and paid 17 April and was promised it would be posted, followed up twice. Nothing received by last weekend, will check this weekend.

Why make promises if you not gonna deliver.

Fekkin BuySyKling.

When I first subscribed, there was an offer for a Deutersomething day pack if one subscribed.  'Cool' I thought, we need one for when we're ambling around and my current daypack is too big.  I'll subscribe.'

So, a couple weeks later, I get a parcel slip in the post.  Go down to the PO to pick up my 'backpack' and I find a goodie bag of junk from Bicycling.  'Er, ok'  I think to myself, 'Not expected, but I s'pose nicer to have than not.'  'Wonder when I'm going to get my backpack?'

A few weeks later, I get a phone call.  Did I get a 'hamper' or a backpack they ask.  A pile of junk, I answer, no back pack.  Well you didn't ask for a backpack they reply.  I did, I reply.  No you didn't they reply. And I don't have anyway to prove that I did. So why did they call me then..?

The phone call left me AngryAngryINCANDESCENTAngryAngry with rage... so much so that I got Tim Brink's email address but couldn't bring myself to contact him as I'd probably have had a stroke while ranting at him. OuchDead

So, personally I think they are a bunch of clowns.  The only bigger clown is me becuase I still have a subscription (Discovery pays most of it) and they're sending me mags that feel more like the insert that comes with a mag than the mag itself.  This month's is the lightest ever, and ironically probably got the most content.

Why won't Discovery subsidise Tread or Ride  subscriptions..!?  Subsidising my subs. to Bicycling is only going to cost them money in that they're going to have to pay for my stroke or heartattack... Tongue

Aah, I do feel better now... Big%20smile

I wonder if Bicycling could survive if they didnt have the Discovery Tie-in?

My personal feeling is No, Never,Not a chance, Forget it, I think they bargain on the fact folk will gamble the few bucks on the cheap Discovery tie-in for subscriptions.

Here in the local Bedford CNA I usually see piles of them at the begining of the month, and piles of them at the end of the month, I doubt very much people are buying them off the shelf.

the only thing worth reading in Bicycling.....are the adverts, and that can be accomplished in 5min, in the CNA.

Nearly subscribed through Discovery for R105 a year but after I read about how crappy the mag is here on the hub, I'm glad I did not waste my money. Rather put in another R25 and subscribe to TREAD - now that is an awesome mag. My wife has it now at her hair salon for her clients to read.

I prefer the Ride Mag..but got my Bicycling subscription at the OFM Classic last year.  Ive had fantastic service with Bicycling and cant complain at all.  I still prefer the Ride Mag, but often read the Bicycling now.  Ya, maybe it has too many road stuffs, but you can learn a lot.  Maybe you should convert or do both like I do?

Oh you are talking about BUYcycling magazine the magazine with many many many advertisements and two or three American articles....... yes I do read it as it is the only bicycle magazine we get in Namibia whenever we visit for groceries.

I do however always rather buy Ride Mag when in RSA. I cannot have it posted as for some silly reason they charge you R1200-00 per annum for overseas subscriptions where you local yokels only pay R219-00 AND get a free gift!!!!!! Really not fair!!!!!!!!
