Jackes Posted May 13, 2009 Share Can't speak for ibm, but very impressed with dell. ( Also had good service from HP - the best battery life on the market )
AuctionLamb Posted May 13, 2009 Share Go for IBM....good quality and backup is top notch!! DELL....only had bad experience with them but that was my experience. Maybe there is also a reason why they not selling so well?
patrickw Posted May 13, 2009 Share Both are crap!!!Take a look at a Macbook. If you don't have a budget constraint Macbook pro is the way to go.
Capricorn Posted May 13, 2009 Share it's not IBM anymore. IBM sold the rights to the chinese holding company Lenovo, and if reviews are to be believed, then they are making very good products. Every brand have their rotten apples. But if outright market share is used as the yardstick, then Dell takes the cake. HP will however, disagree
bak2basiks Posted May 14, 2009 Share IBM all the way...these things are tough as nails.....not so sure on the SL500 build quality, but the T and R series are rock solid inside and are REAL notebooks that can be knocked, dropped and used as intended...also.....the plug in EVERYWHERE....and JUST WORK...no need for adapters and stuff.... MacBook....the same as a a Louis Viutton handbag....expensive and not so nice....
DaLoCo Posted May 14, 2009 Share Dell.....their service is very good. Some have had bad experiences their local support structures as implemented by Dell. They use local IT specialists in your town to service and repair machines, and pay the specialist. Depending on the warranty you buy, Dell will come and fix your machine at your place of preference, no trying to get to a shop and hand it in. This service does cost a bit, but well worth it. Christopher Brunsdon Posted May 14, 2009 Share Our company, an IT based one, only buys IBM (Lenova) or Mac (OK, only 1 so far) notebooks. My Dad has the Dell and is also awesome. So not much help here. What I can say from IT Retail days is that Dell has the best customer service reputation followed by Acer. Whatever you decided, both are good. One important thing is too try them out for 5 minutes each.
TNT1 Posted May 14, 2009 Share On balance, if I couldn't have the Mac, I'd take the hp...
