My Blackburn Delphi's magnet is stripped, so it doesn't stay in place on the spoke...What's the principle behind the technology? Can I use any other magnet, or do I have to go through the whole schlepp of ordering...and waiting...and waiting...?

I reckon any cycling sensor magnet should do the trick as I use the Polar magnets to service both the S720i and a Elite In-Out for both cadence and speed...

A magnet's pretty much a magnet.

If you can get it to stick to the spoke a reasonable distance away from the sensor it should work.

I've replaced all my screw-on magnets with the Sigma slide on types. They problem with them is that they only work on round spokes.

Yep...that's my problem...my wheels have flat spokes. What about adhesive...is there perhaps something I can use?

Yup.............. a magnet is all the reed switch in the pickup needs to operate........ as long as the magnet is set to the correct distance as per manufacturers spec. Polar makes a good one, Sigma makes a good one and cateye also makes a good one. You can buy all of these seperately at any well stocke LBS. Just make sure as Mampara said they will fit on your spokes. The Polar magnet is a tad expensive.

CayEye magnets come in 'blade specific' or 'universal' that will fit round and bladed spokes - I'm sure they all work with any computer - as long as you can get the 'distance' correct - usually specified as 5mm (but they work at more in my experience).

Cheers,

Dave.

I have used metal epoxy glue before and it worked. It's the one where you miix the 2 packs together. It worked well on flat spokes and to take it off a light tap with a hammer worked.
