bought the camelback and abused it for 7 years.

a few months ago juice started leaking from the cap, which is ok on shorter rides (you don't fill it up) or on warm days (you don't mind the leaking water cooling you down). But for ride2rhodes slap-bang in winter i'd need  to replace it.

Took it to my bicycleshop this morning.

"You drink out of THAT???" the bike-shop-guy asked, as he held the bladder against the light.  (ok, ok, maybe i SHOULD have cleaned it after sani2c)

A quick phonecall, and i  have a brand new bladder :)

a warranty replacement, no questions asked.

this bike shop does deal in camelbacks, but i bought mine in capetown many moons ago. they replaced the bladder and the tube, just took my (new) old bite-valve off and fitted it on the new bladder - the bite-valves doesn't have a warranty.

Cool - thats awesome service. Glad I've gone Camelbak then. Understand the bite-valve issue and need to order a spare or 2 from CRC next time. I'm getting mine from CRC so thats why I was asking.

What is the price from CRC. If I remember correctly they are damn expensive here in SA.

they are expensive, jagwill. but if i bought a bladder for half the price back then, i now would have retired it and bought a new one for half the price -

this one hopefully will last another 7 year, so all in all, i think this time it was worth it to spend more .... but now that i think about it, i probably only bought a camelback because 7 years ago there wasn't that much choice around :)

I am on my 3rd Camelback bladder and pipe. All replaced under guarantee; got a new bite valve each time too (and kept the old ones) smiley1.gif

1st one the lining inside the pipe began to peel off blocking the pipe.

2nd one the ring around the cap chaffed through the bladder causing it to leak; definite design / manufacturing fault.

No questions asked. Great service.

Mine arrived yesterday from CRC

I got the mule NV paid about 1030 rand cheapest I could find it here was 1800

Rode with it today very comfortable its my first one and I am so impressed with the quality I filled in only 2 litres of water and 1 tray of ice cubes and my ride today was 3 hours 20 minutes and those last sips were still drinkable

The storage pockets are very nicely organised as well fits all my junk with space to spare

They are the best.... maybee I should take mine out of the bag and hold it against the light...... or maybee NOT...Dead

hehehe mad dog he didn't hold it against the light to see what was wrong with it ... but more likely because of the strange colour that wasn't exactly the original camelback-bladder-blue. possibly more the colour of the lazy-aged coke-energy juice-riverwater-ice-cubes-and anything else that the second fed me on sani2c-mix   :)

They are damn side cheaper than local. Up to 50% even after taxes and duties. Also check the hub, I originally was going to get one off Dirtyflea for R350 (1,5L) but Cape Town did a CRC order that day and I'm getting a rather-porno 3L one that should work out to R550.

Oh, and on CRC you can the 3L (which everyone says is a must) for the cost of a 1,5L locally.

My soon to be porno Scudo CB:

* 3L baldder

* 9L cargo

* 800g weight (not that I care)
