That's the thing, it was locked outside against a pole with a decent lock system but still when I came out of the building, gone. And I got the bike for a bargain brand new, and can't replace it with the money its insured for.

btw: what's the insurance saying, and will they cover you fully for your loss? mine gave me all sorts of BS hidden in the fine print. Granted, my fault I didnt read it all properly, but it still caused abit of a depression in the wallet. MIght as well have kicked me square in the nuts. Damn Bar Stewards!

Ya they gona pay out but only like R15500 and to replace my bike ima need like R25 000!! So ja now I sit with problem, wait for more omney or buy a K*K bike..

hmm, why did they only pay out that amount? was that it's insured amount or did they apply some arb clause that defines a max pay out? was it insured under household or as a specified item?

soz for all the Q's, but I wanna shift insurers so as to get a better deal in terms of biking passtime.

Was insured for that I only pay that was special the dealer had only 5 of those bikes for that price! What you can do is insure your bicycle so that they assess the value each year so that you don't sit in my situation.

i think that is generally good advice. Full replacements are almost always more expensive, because that model item you lost might be EOL, and the new comparable item carries the stupid newness tax. But thats how the cookie crumbles i guess.

But reassess we should, and if our bikes are essentially EOL, it's probably better to upward adjust the insurance and 'arrange' for the bike to disappear to Mocams smiley17.gif

Lancelegs101: how did the insurance cover it? as a specified item? I'm just curious because i had my MTB stolen from my backyard, but then the insurance only paid out and amount less than the replacement cos because 'it wasn't on the property'.

Me: ?huh? it WAS on the property as that was my very own backyard.?

Insurer: no, it wasn't inside the house. under the roof. behind a locked door.

Me: wtf ever, honestly.
