It goes form this (on the left) to that (on the right)

The actuall shifter part also attaches to the clamp and can me moved. So if you want to move the shifter between the grip and brake lever' date=' you can play with the reach.

I took my indicators off the other day, so much cleaner. I didn't know I could adjust the reach tho...now I'm going to play some more!

These shifters rock.

This problem annoys me so much I might just take a hacksaw to it to calm my nerves. Never use those optical gear displays and they foul with any remote lockout anyway. Shimano should ditch them in favour of something more like the SRAM triggers.

I agree! I don't want to move to SRAM. I'm used to Shimano, only ever used Shimano since primary school, I don't want anything else! From what I can see it's only SLX, XT, XTR and Saint that can remove the indicator.

SRAM has teh indicator in the clamp, which puts it out of the way. Much better idea in my opinion.

Only on certain models. The people who does not have it will again curse and ask why it's not on every model.

Ok..... SRAM has a Gripshift that works on Shimano.... You will have to special order it in but it is available....

On the difirent tipes of riding you do...... The shifters have a negative feedback.... that meens that you twist it for a couple of mills before it wil actually shifts....

maybe that can solve ur problem....

or just make ur grips a bit wider by using handlebartape on ur mtb bars,

wrap it double and then it is nice and thick aswell.....then you can just move ur hands....

SRAM Attack shifters work on Shimano RDs, and IMO the shifting is better than XT. And they aren't that pricey either.
