What XC Hubs...

Bike Mob

Recommended Posts

Looking at building up a wheelset for XC racing mainly. I'd like to get to about 1500g for the pair.

I'm thinking of the ZTR355 rims but am unsure what hubs are available and at what prices.

Ideally I'd like to spend a bit less than 2000 buck on the hubs.

Any suggestions?

see if you can get hold of some ringle dirt fleas... I am super stocked with mine and they really roll fast. DT 240s are sweet too.

got them with my 'goose canaan team and am not aware of an agent in SA. CRC has them though. They take a few rides to loosen up and just seem to get smoother and faster.

***bigben*** Yip had to act quick

XT is supposedly a very good value for money vs durabilty/relibility option. Any colour as long as its black, but you may be stuck with Centre Lock.

Hope is quite highly regarded as well. You may struggle to fit that into your 2 Grand budget (unless you go CRC). several colours but 6 bolt only.

For big money, Chris King or I9 are the way to go.

DT is also usually high up on the list. 6 bolt or CL options, I think.

I saw someone with A2Z hubs & skewers. Dont know anything about those though...

Dont forget to get a good wheelbuilder, or your fancy wheels will be worthless.

Do not colour code your wheels. If they are great you would want to hang on to them and move them to the next bike. If they are not, then it will be easier to flog them. I see in the overseas mags that green is the new red and it will come over this side soon.

Will probably have to go CRC...

I heard of the A2Z ones but have read online they have had a few issues with the freehub?
