My wife made the effort last time and really enjoyed it. I babysat and she juggled stuff around so she could make it. Once a month is not too bad to take some time off.

Hog' date=' I think you should stay away. Some of these ladies will embarass you with their skills. You will be sent packing with your tail between your legs. [/quote']

he's a hog, so his tail is short and squiggly. he can't get it between his legs.

Duct tape should sort that out.

What's that ad that pigs cant look skywards? Is that true Hog? Maybe that explains why they dont fly.

Well, that would explain why I can't clear the dirt jumps properly. Never thought of that! Maybe I should change my nickname to catapult...

I'd say most subscribers should have their mags by Friday next week, assuming the postal service is on song...

If 'real' ladies were able to get their long rides in over weekends, their husbands would have to sacrifice their long rides and family time, but seeing as the 'real' ladies are considerate and accommodating (even tho they also dream of a sub 3 Argus, but alas training time...) they squeeze their long rides in somewhere in the middle of the week when they are also very tired and stressed about all the work that still needs to be done. From what I've seen 90% of the married ladies with kids wouldn't ride if their hubbies never so in truth it's hubbies sport that they're just following.

Real cycling females don't have children!! Who's prepared to give up nine months of being on a bike...damn, I'd kill someone.

So unfortunately I work like any human being, ride in the dark in the mornings and long ones over weekends.

Why is it a problem 'following your man's sport'? It's called being considerate. Now we have a lot to talk about and get excited about the same sport. I wouldn't trade my kids for the world. Luckily I had them before the cycling bug bit, so 'giving up nine months' of my life wasn't a problem. (Real cyclists should bounce back easily.) As for the 'human being' comment and cycling in the early hours of the morning, been there, done that... oh wait, still doing that. Anyway, this thread started with a unfair generalization. It?s unnecessary and thats my point.

Honestly, I'm jealous, wish i could join them!!

Think most of the guys are jealous as well, hence the comments.

Roer, you're getting waaayyy too worked up over nothing here!!

Personally I love having my hubby for backup...is great!!

Roer, are you actually kidding me that you were offended about what I said??? How many times did you have to read the post before you found something to get upset about?

You would have preferred if I just quoted my wife who said she thought it was a "stupid idea to have it mid-week"???? She is a career-woman and leaves for work when its still dark, just as I and many others do.

My use of the word "ladies" is a very slightly obscure reference to "lady of leisure" which is tongue-in-cheek and not design to offend anyone.

Maybe you should stop being all self-righteous and realise that at least I take an interest in my wife's cycling. At least I don't expect her to stay at home and babysit our non-existent kids (career-woman) as I ride with my mates on weekends.

I have to be honest, when I got my first invite by mail my initial reaction was 'great, another one for the ladies of leisure' but having given it a bit more thought there is nothing leisurely about keeping domestic and maternal affairs in order and then there is the obvious (which dassie pointed out) about women who still have a career with more flexible hours.

I'm envious that I can't join them due to work/time constraints but the next time I happen to be on leave I'll be sure to join them. It's a great initiative.
