She is in hospital with glass in her face, still. Saturday eve they were attacked in their house by 4 men with panga's The farmers asked us mountain bikers to please not cycle there at night! He says "julle f#@ my sekuriteit op"They're dogs are barking every time cyclists goes past and they never know if it is trouble or just mountain bikers.He says they get groups that goes through there till 11pm at night!The farmers in the area are trying to get that piece of road closed for good!We spoke to Francois Brink but it was his neighbour's daughter that got shot at!

knippie Posted July 1, 2009 Author Posted July 1, 2009 Yes, Spes Bona is closest dirt road. Nice when you want to get a bit of training in and don't have lots of time. would be a shame! But hectic to think of all the hours we spent there and how unsafe it actually is!

knippie Posted July 1, 2009 Author Posted July 1, 2009 we know two of the farmers and they are soooo upset with cyclists and guys with 4x4's, motor bikes and quads on their land and in their fields that they want to close the roads!!So No, they will not allow cyclists on their land or farm roads. We got stopped last Saturday by another farmer who declared that, that road is private and if he ever catches a cyclists there again.... and we we're on public road and didn't even enter an open gate! Too many asses has been crossing that line/border and just ridden/cycled on private land that the farmers has gotten fed up! I can understand it though.

philippe484 Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Ive been involved in MTB land access for many years now and there are practical considerations like this one.We must surely understand farmers security concerns but what about public land where people are employed to maintain such land for public use? JA WHAT ABOUT THE TRAIL FROM CAPE POINT TO LIONS HEAD? HUH?
