THIS EVENT IS IN ESSENCE A FUN RIDE !! Event Overview   A two day fun stage event, with the emphasis on fun. NOW AVAILABLE IN A SINGLE DAY OPTION   Yes there will be timing but prizes will be awarded to “other” categories.  The spirit of this event is about having fun, on the bike with your friends, relaxing after a hard year. The official event starts Saturday morning but the fun starts already on Friday eve with a sunset hike, bring your headlamp as we are going to fill the veld with little lights.  Everyone is welcome not just entrants to the race.  5km Walk should be do able even for the kiddies and surely this will be a lot of fun.  Entries will be for sale at Leeuwenboschfontein, it will include a hot chocolate with marshmallows Trail Run:  this year we have a trail run on Saturday for the non riders, Patti van Dyk our partner with the Winter Trail Run Series has come onboard to manage this event. Extras meal tickets are available (at the entry process) Stage One 15 Dec:  55 km that starts off with gravel road and then heads into jeep track and takes out into the “wild” of the Klein Karoo, your water point is at the highest point on the Ezelsjacth farm.  The stage ends with a gravel road downhill making sure you coming in fast to the Finish Line.  Total ascent is 563m.  This route has a total of 26km gravel road, the rest is jeep track in various conditions.  The washed out section is on an uphill and therefore safe. Stage Two 16 Dec:  55 km (+/-) the Queen stage takes you into Driekuilen Game Farm.  There will be climbing but it will be worth your legs.  At the top of Waboomsberg, at the Lookout point you will be spoiled with views all the way into Montagu but here will also be the Photobomb moment of the weekend.  Pose with your steed at this magnificent view (all images free for download) and enjoy the very special water point set up here.  This stage has Gemsbok, Eland, Zebra, Swart Wildebeest and many more game to see, the trails are a joy to ride and the views out of this world.  Driekuilen is opening up old trails to connect with the existing routes, this will mean less climbing, more time on Driekuilen, even more spectacular views and definately an experience not to be missed.  If you need to choose between riding only one of the stages…this will be it!  As soon as we know which trails was openened in time we will update the details of ascent, but it will be approximately 55km’s.  Only 8km’s of this will be on open gravel road, the rest will be on the very well maintained routes of Driekuilen.  Please note there is a prize for the King/Queen of the mountain, make it to the Klipstapels first, receive your crown and Driekuilen’s amazing prize! Many of these roads that used to be access roads has been locked in and these landowners do not want people through not event small groups (4 riders or so) once in a blue moon.

Hello Shebeen, would be lovely to chat about your idea. Yes it was my intention many moons ago to do that specific "ride" BUT there are more than one obstacle in the way. I even wanted to use it for slack-packing... Overgrown routes can be opened but all that is left of the line is a heap of small rocks, that isn't even comfortable enough walking never mind cycling. Rogue riders pitching at events without number boards are a common thing these days (according to Time Keepers and event organizers). What is going on? Are we that lawless that we don't see that we've just become nothing less than a common thief?! When you lucky to see them in the start shoot and dare to approach them they make a huge scene and you are the one that hasn't got your ducks in a row, when you spot them on the finish line, they have this attitude that they don't need timing and they just there for the fun! My word what do you not get? It costs money to host an event and surely we all trying to make a living here, if you cannot afford to do an event then stay at home or go ride your local trails! So do we!!…. We have designed something different with this in mind. It is dirt cheap and you will still get to have fun with no worries. See more info on the Makadas website on how we can do it for so dirt cheap !!!DIRT CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP!!! Ry Hom Kwagga is a mountain bike event with a twist. It is set in the Agterveld region, Montagu, Touwsriver area. This is the Klein Karoo at it’s best, vast expanses, clean air, the sound and smells of the veld, stars so close you can almost touch it. Look further and expand your horizons, this allows you to breathe and dream again. This event is just a fun mountain bike event featuring great trails. The trails traverses 7 farms most of which is still practices full time farming with guest accommodation and expanding on mountain bike and hiking trails. The trails are 80% good jeep track and the shorter distances are completely non technical. The longer distance has a bit more “technical” riding and suitable for those that can manage a blue graded trail. Every stage has two distances to choose from. The trails we chose for this event runs through farms ranging from cattle to sheep but with an outlook of hospitality and bringing nature back into balance. On one of the farms, Middelberg Guest Farm you might spot the Kwaggas and if you look closely you will see stripes disappearing from the back side like the original Quagga. E Bikes are welcome! Karoo to Montagu The ride starts in the “Karoo” and heads east into the sunrise traversing the Anysberg Nature Reserve before it turns west again, just short of Ladismith making it's way towards the picturesque town of Montagu. The event starts in the “Karoo” and finishes in Montagu making it a point to point event and not a circular route. I chose the these specific roads to incorporate the beauty of our area and the idea is not to make you suffer on long boring roads in the wind but to thrill you with the beauty of the Klein Karoo. Experience the beauty of the Klein Karoo with a stunning, red, still sunrise riding east towards Ladismith. The terrain varies all the time with short mountain "passes" and zig-zaging alongside the southern side of the Anysberg plus flat sections where you can hammer it. Well stocked water points and pasta meals will keep your tummy full and a smile on your dial. Come challenge yourself! The whole area has roaming game from Kudu, Gemsbuck, Eland and then of course smaller game that will see you without you noticing them. Event Name: Ry hom Kwagga 2 Day MTB ChallengeWhen: 01/05/2022 - 02/05/2022Where: Category: Mountain BikeRy Hom Kwagga is a new two day mountain bike challenge set in the Agterveld region, Montagu, Touwsriver area. This is the Klein Karoo at it’s best, vast expanses, clean air, the sound and smells of the veld, stars so close you can almost touch it. Look further and expand your horizons, this allows you to breathe and dream again. The trail traverses 8 farms most of which is still practices full time farming with guest accommodation and expanding on mountain bike and hiking trails. The trails are 80% good jeep track and the shorter distances are non technical. The longer distance has a bit more tricky riding and suitable for those that can manage a blue graded trail. This two day event has two distances to choose from, your longer distance will include some technical terrain while the shorter distances are just great riding, jeep track that is in good condition. The trails we chose for this event runs through farms ranging from cattle to sheep but with an outlook of hospitality and bringing nature back into balance. On one of the farms, Middelberg Guest Farm you might spot the Kwaggas and if you look closely you will see stripes disappearing from the back side like the original Quagga.     E Bikes are welcome! The Klein Karoo at it’s best, vast expanses, clean air, the sound and smells of the veld, skies so clear you can almost touch the stars! This event is a family friendly event and the venue lends itself towards it. The campsites are under trees on grass with swimming pools and play area for kids. Leeuwenboschfontein has so much to offer from hiking trails to a 4×4 route. Over the last 20 years this area has gone from sheep farming to guest farms and the game has moved into our area by themselves: gemsbuck, eland, kudu, wildebeest etc and loads of smaller game as well. This event is aimed at getting out of the rat race, away from phones and pressure and therefore this event isn’t timed. You have a choice which distance you would like to do every day. It is about getting out into the veld, stop and breathe….just relax and enjoy the trails and the scenery. No Pressure! The shorter stages are suited for riders that does not enjoy technical terrain and the longer stages you will find more technical sections. Accommodation: camping different campsites around the route. The arrangements is all on us, everything is included except for your beverages. Backup along the route plus a water point. Route: starts in Montagu and travels through back roads and private property via Krakadouw to Waboomsberg then Nougaspoort and Anysberg. Only day one will have a section that might be "technical" for a novice rider as we traverse the Waboomsberg to get to the top.Finish in Montagu via Ouberg
