Well the true debate here isn't whether they are pro's or not. It's whether our females should get the same prize money as the men, considering they race the same distance and all.

So let's stop throwing in international garbage just to be bastards!!

distance got nothing to do with it. The fact that there is no, or rather less, competition should be the deciding factor. The same as the people see who is racing and then decides not to because they know they don't stand a chance of winning.

Distance is just one side. The fact that its mostly a race between 3 girls at snails pace makes me believe that they dont deserve the same money.

Where have you been these last two years...the girls have come a long way and deserve to get some retribution for their efforts as do their sponsors.

The top women in South Africa train just as hard as the top men.  It is also more difficult for them to train given the fact that in South Africa it is just not safe for a woman to train alone.

Why should the top women be penalised because there aren't enough other women cycling?  They don't train less hard or put less hours in because they only have to beat 50 others instead of three hundred.

Instead of putting women cyclists down, why don't you guys encourage more women to get into cycling and to start competing.  This forum is the ideal place to start but all you guys do is objectify them.

Even simpler than that. It is the sponsor who decides how much money he/she is prepared to part with. Nothing to do with:

Distance riden

Number of competitors

Quality of the riders.

The simple fact of the matter is sponsors rule what is and is not paid out. I bet you if Triumph WonderBra  sponsored a race, women would get bigger prize money than men (even me with my man-boobies).

It is not fair. Life is not fair. Simple story. Never was, never will be.

Thank you Nothingness, at least the Hub has one decent male on itHug

The guys don't realise what we have to do just to be accepted by the bunches we often train with. It's really quite sad!!

They might have come far..but they've got some way to go. This is my personal opinion...but womens "racing" is boring. You only get the odd half hearted attack and then they wait for the finish. Mens racing is much more exciting..and thats what the sponsors want. If the women's racing were exciting then why dont we get to watch it on tv like with the tdf?

Is that true or do the sponsors just give a lump sum for prize money and the organisers split it up??

Sorry to disappoint you, Wonder Woman, but I'm female.

Which means there are no decent males on the Hub!

Wonder Woman & Nothingness,

Not everyone is saying that women's racing is terrible and even those that are saying it have their tongues rammed firmly in their cheeks.

When someone has a difference in opinion to what is popular, does that make them a bad person? Not always!

I fully agree with you there...our ladies do still have a way to go. I have watched quite a bit of female cycling and it really isn't as dynamic as the mens...national, international, all over. Is it due to lack of sponsors and progress or is it just the fact that they're female and don't have the go that men do??

Actually might be something worth studyingWink

So, we must just marry a rich man who can support our love of the sportBig%20smileThumbs%20Up

(Damn, I went wrong there and married for loveLOL)
