owen it wont be because of the make of pedals i have had shimano time look and speedplay squeak because of play on the bearings

Larry hold the pedal on the base of the pedal and pull up and down if there is play there might be part of your problem

other parts that could squeak are your bottom bracket your crank arms that are not tightened correctly and possibly even your headset or the front wheel quick release springs that are worn

i had this problem. on your non-driveside crank arm there should be 2 bolts attaching the crankarm to the BB. just make sure those bolts are tight ....wen my crank started creaking all i did was tighten them nd presto. it was silent

Then give him a solution - as I was in the process of doing - And yes - I am not a bike mechanic - far more qualified than that!!

And I have never worked on Look pedals - changed to Shimano - and guess what - SILENCE!!

And the advice to change pedals came from a bike mechanic at a bike shop - clearly he also 'dont work on many bikes' (sic)

Now Larry - hopefully I can offer a possible solution without interruption - check that the noise is not being caused by the contact between your cleats and your pedals - my mechanic who clearly 'dont work on many bikes' told me that that is what he found to be a common problem with some pedals (dare not mention a brand here - but normally the type you are using) owen622009-07-07 23:27:28

It might just sound like it comes from the BB/crank area but it can come from the seatpost or even stem/headset. If you are seating and the sound occurs then try standing and see if it still does. See if it occurs when you pull on the handlebars. See if it squeeks on both down strokes.
