HELP PLEASE.!

The inseam x 0.65 formula suggests that I ride a 51/52cm frame (79 x 0.65).

The Giant sizing table below recommends a Small frame.

LBS?s seem caught in two minds, some agreeing and some recommending a Medium.

Any Giant riders have any thoughts/opinions/experiences to share.?

Thanks.

And the debate continues...

My two cents... If ever I am between 2 sizes, then I take the bigger one, cause this means you don't have to raise my saddle too much causing discomfort with handlebars being too low. Just use a shorter stem.

In the other hand, if you prefer the aerodynamic speedy low handlebar, take the smaller frame, but use a longer stem.

I've had many different oppinions, but in the end the bigger frame suits me better.

Saddle to handle bar drop noted as a possible concern.

Regarding TT + Stem lengths:

My reach (TT + Stem) as recommended,  52 + 10 = 62cm.

Assuming this is an adequate fit, that means using a 6.5cm stem on the Medium (55.5cm TT).

Is the "length" of the medium frame not too long.?

ride both and see which is more comfortable.

If only it were that simple.!

I don't think that comfort can be established by going around the block a few times ... not when one is on the border of both frame sizes.

And I don't think the LBS is going to let me take the bikes for a 100km ride.

Surely not. The owner is the same length and also equally proportioned. However it does not mean that you will be comfortable on that frame. I am 1.76 with short legs and a small or 52 is what I prefer. My Schwinn is a medium and is also comfortable although I had to fit a 90 stem. So I would say its up to you. smiley5.gif

Oh, my Cannondale is a 50" and the setup is aggresive, very low in the drops.Schwynn2009-07-21 23:10:44

Thanks guys.! Now you're also sounding like the LBS's I've visited...

It seems either could work but neither is going to be a perfect fit.

Quite a conundrum.!  Confused

Would you like to be more comfy or more racy?

How about racy without being uncomfortable. Smile

3rd LBS visited yesterday recommended a small.

He didn't think that the saddle to HB drop would be as big an issue as the additional length of the medium would be.

My suggested saddle height is ? 71cm in case that changes opinions in any way.

I suppose comparing geometries and relative measurements helps but this seems to be a question best answered on the bike.! Thumbs%20Up

I hope the missus understands when I come home with frames in S,M, etc etc ... Embarrassed

Thomo! Go for medium. I'm on the same verge but between medium and large. I bought the medium cause everyone said rather go smaller than bigger. 20,000km later I'm wondering if the large wouldn't have been a better choice. I do have a large now and the bike just handles better.

If your saddle is to high then it throws you geometry a bit.

But I agree if you want racy, go smaller, if you want comfort go bigger.
